The visuals in this game are quite nice. It's a cute little bunny town. I think this was quite a lot to bite off for a jam. You somehow managed to fit a lot of the elements usually found in games like this, but I do have some suggestions.
My number 1 suggestion is to change the collection system. Failing to collect a resource because of a minigame can be quite frustrating, and it gets old fast. Imagine how different Minecraft would be if you had to play a minigame for every block you collect. If you do elect to keep the minigames, I would suggest changing it from not getting anything, to getting a smaller amount. The player should still be rewarded for their time.
Another gameplay suggestion I have is to put an indicator for where enemies are coming from during a raid. I ended up just waiting for them to show up at my base because I didn't know where they were coming from unless a warrior was near me during the raid start.
Visually, I'd recommend adding a border to the minigames to make it feel less flat. Right now, it feels like it's just a canvas that didn't scale properly. I know it's a lot to ask for a high level of polish for a game like this during a game jam, but these are for learning. I might suggest trying to scope down for the next one, so you have time to commit to improving a smaller number of well balanced and polished mechanics, rather than having a large number of mechanics.
I have no idea how you made all this in 2 weeks :O it is awesome
Awesome! Really impressed with how in-depth the game is despite the two week deadline.
This is a super well made game!!! It kept me hooked for ages; unfortunately I had to stop because the raids tank the FPS on my laptop. But I never got bored at any point, and it was fun to watch the village grow. There are a few issues but I'm sure that if you address these you will have an even better game!! Also the style had lots of charm.
Some critiques:
Complex game but i enjoyed it anyway!
The game looks really good and I like the overall design a lot. I really like the idea of having people work in your camp while you can jump in and help wherever it's needed. Most of the systems aren't fully fleshed out yet, which makes total sense for a two week project. But I can totally see the vision and I hope you continue working on the project. Great work! :)
Thank you so much for the review and the feedback! Honestly, trying to implement everything in just two weeks was pretty challenging, so a lot of ideas and systems ended up only partially finished.
I’m really glad you enjoyed the game and were able to see the vision behind it. Your encouragement genuinely means a lot and makes me want to keep working on the project!
the art style is very nice, it is pretty hard to get through the tutorial, too much to read at once. a visual tutorial would have been better in my opinion
but still good job!
Too much text, right? I thought the same thing! The tutorial was the last thing I managed to implement before the deadline, so I had to make it PowerPoint-style. Thanks for the feedback, I’m really glad you liked the art!
its pretty confusing at the start you could use a tutorial , i love the art is so cute
Yeah, I had planned to include a more organic in-game tutorial, but the time limit got the best of me and I wasn’t able to implement it. Thanks for the feedback, and I’m glad you liked the art!
