very fun and cool idea! i liked the humor a lot. very good job for a first jam game!
I like the unique gameplay where you have to drop ores into the hole to use them, and how you can use dwarves to automate your progress
This is one of the best incremental games in the whole jam. I really like the concept, it's pretty funny and I like how the map looks with the dwarf king sitting right under king arthur. The art style and music are also great and the gameplay is very polished imo. Also optimised very well. I didn't want to stop; I maxed out every single upgrade before I decided to. Seeing the dwarves haul the rocks into the smithy which shatters the rocks into ore and smelts them is so goddamn cool. All that's missing is a sound effect while it smelts.
Maybe one thing you should change is regarding goblins; first of all it's very cool early on how goblins run in and steal a bunch of your hard earned rocks and then bugger off. However, imo the sudden change to a green sky doesn't look very good. Maybe a goblin horn could be a good indicator instead? Also it'd be nice if the goblins became a bigger threat the more time goes on, since later on they didn't really pose much of a threat at all (i had so much ore being mined that I couldn't even smelt it all) And then maybe add some purchasable dwarf warriors to fend off these stronger goblins maybe? Lastly, adding an upgrade tree to make the cursor more powerful when manually mining would be sweet
I hope you do continue working on this because it's so good and I really did enjoy it!
I love it, pleaso continue.
Thanks a lot !! ;D
I will remake the whole game into something bigger once the Jam results are up and figure out which areas needs more love and attention than others, hopefully iwill continue working to make this a full valid game.
Wonderful artwork and polish! Everything is easy to understand and responsive. Really great job!
THIS is your entry for a FIRST jam?? WAT. It's pretty insane. Great work!
Great game! The polish on this is insane! Well done!
If you have some time, it would be awesome if you could try out my game :D
i played this so much awesome!
Soo many things happening in such a small scenario, amazing use of resources! Loving the art style but more importantly the sound effect of mining the rock. I could keep clicking the red X for days just to keep hearing that SFX! Well done, gnome power!
Thank you a lot !!
If there's a unit that felt more interesting/fun above the others, which was it for you?
For me it was the runners! I was spamming click on rock, so during all game, and even when I had everything maxed, I had extra ore that was not being carried. Maybe instead of getting a chest with a fixed item every X damage to the rock, you could give the option to choose between 3 different ones, so each player could pick first the utility they'd use the most!
That's a Great idea! That would force me to add more items that can be used early game as well since the Staff is only usable when the Wizard Tower is unlocked and such.
Thank you so much for the feedback i will keep updating after the jam reviewing period ends!
The bomb tower is really good if you upgrade him as soon as you ca
This was amazing! Really great concept with good gameplay and some comedy. I unlocked every upgrade and wish I could have removed the sword.
Thank you so so much! i really appreciate you liked it, i saw your taste in other games and it means a lot to me you saw something in my small unfinished game ;D
Was there a unit/s that felt more fun above others?
I really liked the Runner unit because upgrading and buying more of them gives a good sense of progression. Buffing them with Haste from the Mage Tower made it even better!
A nice chill game. I would recommend adding some sort of events system or other negative pressure as mentioned by others, to keep the player on their toes. Well done!
Thanks i really wanted to add a complex Goblins/Trolls and Sword retaliation debuff system like maybe thunder stunning runners or jamming the Smelter for a while but the time limit got me abandoning many things, once the review week passes i have a HUGE update for the game but have to keep it fair and not update now ;D
This is great! It's got a good hook and lots of content. Nice job!
Appreciate it!!
do you remember what visual felt more interesting than others? wether it's the ores or a certain unit doing its thing
Hmm... visually, I think I liked watching the archer fire arrows at the goblins, and watching the goblins bounce/run across the screen and steal ores. The underground gold-crushing mechanism was interesting too.
Fun game , loved it when i had so much ore that it overflowed into the hole
Lovely art, fun concept. You should add some negative pressure too though. For instance the incoming goblins are fairly inconsequential. Plus, you can't even do anything about them. Would be interesting if we had to figure out whether to invest resources in defense versus mining creating a kind of fun tension. Or repurposing workers for different roles
Thank you so much for the feedback! really need it.![]()
Man i had this whole system of trolls mixed with goblins and they hold a huge rock/tree and slam dwarves with it, You could build walls every wave to make your up to 3 upgradeable Archers hit them more , but the time constraint cancelled lots of plans i had for this game , barely submitted it 1 minute before the deadline.
I made few updates since posting it though, but i'll have to wait for evaluation week before i add more stuff to stick to fairness.
Thank you so much again for the feedback!! <3
Hehe, same boat man. I had so many more mechanics and monsters thought out for my game and didn't get time for it. More honestly, I think I spent way too much time refining the idle and motion animation of my ship 😅
i like your art!
Thanks i worked 70% of the jam time just on that Haha so it's great hearing that from you!
ooooh its a demo, i was so invested to get rid of the boulder
i just think runners should have a higher cap, it doesnt take long to constantly have an overflowing amount of ores on the screen and you barely help by clicking one at a time
art and music are pretty nice and i like how arthur is written
Thanks a lot for the feedback ;D i 100% intend to make this a full game in the upcoming month. Also i just updated the game with many balancing and bug fixes including runners they now have "carry capacity" upgrade & they're capped at +3 more runners, with new ore added and miners damage ugprades as well
Thanks again for playing!
Whoah, this one is a hidden gem, I hope more people play it, the presentation is amazing, and the mix between and incremental and defending the resources is amazing. The only thing I don't like is using the right mouse button to pan the screen, you should add the option to do it with WASD. But the rest was super enjoyable, good luck!
Thank you so much !!! Your comment is invaluable to me after so much work !!
I totally missed WASD and i KNEW right click to pan was going to be tiresome after i playtested for a while and just hoped people would zoom in/out for convenience. I will 100% change that while i update the horrible UI/menus i made last minute before submitting the game 1 minute 15 seconds before deadline.
Reeeeally underestimated the task and fell into scopecreep, i basically spent a full week just drawing the sprites and the other week coding.
Again thank you so so much for validating what i saw as fun, did you manage to "finish" the demo?
Yes, I finished it, in fact it's the only one that hooked me enough to finish, the UI thing happened also to me hahaha. The other thing is that in the end there weren't enough "recolectors" to not have a massive pile of ores, maybe it was intentional but I wanted to have more to recolect. The other amazing thing that I didn't mention was how good of an idea was fron a lore perspective, really fun to imagine this alternative king arthur. Overall its an amazing game and I hope it gets up in the ranking, you could seriously make a full game out of it with a bit more of love.
