Enemy alert range is *way* too high, you need more obvious tracer effects on the bullets if I'm going to be shot from 3 screens away. I'd drop the "restart" menu and have it just be "click anywhere to restart"; given how quickly you die the faster you can get back in to try again the better. The guns need a laser sight or something because the animations point them the wrong way sometimes which I didn't usually notice because I was looking at my crosshair, and with the tracers being subtle it usually took a couple of shots to realise that it wasn't firing where I was telling it to. Personally I'd also make the crosshair more obvious; a bit bigger, a less neutral colour, something like that. Mines could be a lot more obvious; they aren't consistent as they get shot sometimes, so it took several lives before I realised mines even existed and I wasn't being hit by grenades from off screen. Oh and sometimes when shooting the camera jumps up or down. Weird problem, makes aiming annoying. Good effort, visuals look nice and levels show a progression/escalation, though I think I should probably see the first enemy in the game before he kills me.
This game is pure ragebait. From the questionable camera work, to enemy shoot you beyond where you can see, to the worse of all: When you die and the menu show up, your mouse default to “Back to main menu” which make a single missclick wipe all your progress…
It is kinda fun though
yeah testing even rage baited myself on npc range and forgetting where I placed mines. really needed to limit npc visibility and damage. The retry menu definitely needs full rework in its entirety. I may come back to this later to disassemble and rebuild all the inner workings.
