I love the visuals in this one, really cool idea. I wish I could have gotten beyond the sink level though. After multiple times trying either WASD, I could not get any further. any hints?
Sorry, the game might be out of focus. So it doesn't get the inputs. Try clicking on the game screen with your mouse when it starts. Or it might be broken... Sorry, again.
I didn't realize it was a quick time event game initially and laughed out loud when I immediately got squished without pressing a button.
Definitely one where the art/sound design take center stage, I liked it! There were a few screens where the arrow to press didn't feel especially clear to me so I ended up replaying the earlier screens quite a bit.
Nice job finding a happy medium between sketching and rendering, I felt like the art style you ended up with was both cool and manageable with the time limitation.
I was waiting for the intro to finish and I died, 10/10 game.
The art is so good, and the different sounds create a really nice atmosphere.
Sometimes it wasn't very clear which direction I had to move, but I still loved the experience.
One of the coolest jam games I have seen in a while. Amazing visual storytelling and such. Please add checkpoints.
Thank you! Checkpoints are definitely on the to do list!
Love the art!
Thanks! I'm glad you liked it!
This game is beautiful and charming and I love it very much, but jeez it could use some checkpoints and some better indicators of what you are supposed to press. I really wanted to finish it but it was just too frustrating.
Thank you! Sorry, I agree the game is too difficult and the lack of indicators is from the lack of time. But I just added a gif in the description with hints of what to press. If you still want to finish it.
Visuals are amazing! Super cute and charming art and animations! Love the visual storytelling too. Just add checkpoints and maybe a visual indicator (at least at for the first few) about when and which button you're supposed to press and you're golden!
Thank you! Yeah, the visual indicator like a button pop up for the first action is a great idea! I didn't want to add the checkpoints because of the retro theme, to make the game more like Dragon's Lair. The game is also pretty short. Just 1 minute. But maybe I should have.
Neat art! yeah I agree that checkpoints would go a long way! I love the storytelling. I love the giant snake. Great job
Thank you! There are definitely a few things I could have improved to make the game more player-friendly.
Super charming! My big complaint is the same as codexplorer, a bit of clarity would do wonders because as is its a little frustrating at some points and almost feels like luck trying to figure out which input to do. Checkpoints would add a lot as well! Otherwise, the art and animation is wonderful and I love the concept!
You are both right. I definitely should have made the game telegraph what will happen better. I spent most of the time animating and drawing and only made the game a few hours before the deadline. I didn't give myself any time to change anything. But I'm glad that you liked the art!
I LOVED the graphics! It vaguely reminds me of henry stickmin. My only complaints are that your progress isn't saved, and it's not often clear what input i'm supposed to do, leading to me needing to brute-force it and play through everything again.
That was kind of my understanding of retro theme, making a game more difficult and unforgiving like a retro arcade game. That maybe wasn't the best choice. Now I think I should have added an additional mode with check points. I should have also made the game telegraph what will happen better.
