thanks for playing. The boost mechanic started as something visually cool, but as you mentioned its usefulness is quite limited haha. Let me know if you have any suggestions, I ran out of time and ideas.
Perhaps it'd be a natural counter to attacks coming from the top or bottom - like homing rockets the enemy (or maybe a third turret?) would shoot in a pattern that send them first up or down on the screen :)
Very old (ancient) style game made with ascii only (is it?). I love the color palette you have chosen. The scope is perfect for the jam. Sounds are simple but punchy. As someone else has said, improve the hit sounds or add a more distinct visual feedback. Excellent!
The particle effects are off the chain! I had fun with this.
I think the only thing I'd change is some kind of distinct/more-urgent "you got hit" sound effect: I was frequently focused on all of the things coming from the right hand side of the screen that I wouldn't monitor my health.
The graphics are great. The wheelie effect is fun. The 'rides-off-into-the-sunset' animation at the end is satifying.

Fun little exprience - very cohesive package!
I did not find much utility to the boost mechanic though.

The closest would be `textmode` using glyphs. I'll improve some of the things mentioned.
Thanks for playing.
Let's ride!
