really love the concept and execution mechanically, though the UI def needs some polish. well done!
Thanks!
Great concept but the UI layout needs a lot of work
Thanks, yeah that seems to be a general piece I gotta work on including the walls of text. Thanks for playing!
Too many text, I think it would look more clean if you used some icons. In general it was a little bit hard to understand what's going on. Also, maybe instead mixing turn-based combat and tower defense you could focus only on one part and add more depth to gameplay? Overall nice work!
Yeah, that's one thing I end not being able to clean up because of time, definitely would make a good addition. Also an in-depth step by step tutorial would also help a lot too. On the aspect of mixing, that was one of the only hard-set things I had in my mind while brainstorming, I wanted to mash two genres and see how I could affect the gameplay between the two. Could benefit from adding something more in the tower defense that can be used in combat. Thanks for the feedback!
The controls took a little while to get used to, but I dig it! I love games where you recruit little guys to do your bidding, and I don't think I've seen that in the context of pirate ships before. I will echo what has been said about the actions not always being super clear. I also think there's a small bug with the crew display UI, as I have two guys of the same type on the port and starboard cannons, but only one shows up in the menu at the bottom at a time. I might also consider rotating that grid menu and moving it to the right to increase readability and make use of the empty space. Overall a fun game, though! I could see myself downloading and playing something similar on my phone by my own volition (said as a non-mobile-gamer.) I look forward to seeing your next submission! 🙂
Also, the little sea-ditty brings me joy. Harps(?) are great.
Thanks! Yeah, I didn't get much time to playtest and tried to fix as many bugs as I could find, thanks for letting me know. Thanks for the feedback!
dang..pretty unique experience..mechanically game is pretty good..its very complicated but that just makes it more fun honestly,,good job!!
Thanks for playing! Yeah, I was struggling on time to make a guided tutorial, I'm glad you found it fun!
This is great fun to play, the text logs are a little bit invasive and the sailing phase damage felt a little unclear what was happening but I got through it by just smashing the upgrades. Great work! 😀
Yeah, a guided tutorial without the wall of text was what I was planning on working on if I had more time. Thanks for playing!
Definitely didn't take away from the fun factor. I played it through more than once :D
