The prototype seems very promising! You seem to be perfectly on schedule to completing the game in time, and the gameplay is interesting. You already have relatively polished sprites and animations too.
Late comment, but it's so very charming at this stage, and I'm quite excited to see how you've built on it after Sprint 3! Like everyone else has said, better tutorialization would be great, but I'm sure you're on that.
P.S. My heart hurts whenever I see blood spurt from the hedgehogs.
Ream Tocket, y'all are certainly blasting off. This was such a treat to play. Your visuals are awesome, and gameplay felt smooth. I look forward to more helper text!
The artwork is amazing - the druid, the hedgehog, the colors. I like that it is familiar game mechanics too; I feel comfortable from the start with what I need to do to get ahead and to win. I think this makes it more likely to be successful and gain lots of users.
Needs improvement - Needs a bit more explanation of why the trees/nature protect the environment vs. just putting up a wall or tower there, in order to keep with the theme of the jam. This will also help with a call to action - what exactly is “attacking” and why do we need more trees or nature to protect us from it? You don’t want it to be preachy but maybe a bit more clarity would be good. Overall, looks like a great game so far - simple, fun and visually appealing!
The prototype really shows how your game is going to turn out, and I love the concept of the character helping to spread the environment, basically. I think the gameplay could be improved mechanically, and the scope seems to be good for this project.
Your game focusing around increasing biodiversity, restoring greenery within a war-torn and urban environment, and showing how plants synergize to become more resilient makes your tower defense gameplay have a lot of depth since the player has to consider and plan for the long term. Even as the player may struggle, there is still a tone of hope that I greatly appreciate. I was wondering to what extent you will feature animals as your allies and if they could reproduce in between waves, though that may be out of scope.
The biodiversity tower-defense concept is really compelling because plant relationships are not just decorative, they are the main strategy. The project has excellent thematic synergy and a strong visual direction, but the team should reduce the number of levels, plant types, and simulation systems so the central tower-defense loop receives enough polish to stand firmly on its own. Overall, its a beautiful prototype and great work so far.
Really cute game! I would love an introduction or descriptions on the different plants to better understand the mechanics, but I really enjoyed it. Looking forward to seeing your finished game!
Stunning art and a perfectly themed concept! The gameplay loop is engaging and concise. I’d love a slightly more robust tutorial to better master the mechanics, but the project scope is clearly well-managed. Fantastic work
Great concept, great art style, good mechanics. Would like a bit more intrudoction / tutorial to get mechanics better
Holy peak it's so beautiful. The art style, the concept, the call to action, the mechanics, EVERYTHING about this game as it currently stands is, in my opinion, picture perfect to what this jam asks for. With the rate that you guys are going at, I believe that the scope is most certainly doable. The gameplay loop is clear and the narrative is concise. Just AMAZING stuff guys. Keep it up!!!
