I love this game! The really tiny sprites and the music both fit the game super well. It was a fun challenge to try to avoid all the enemy bullets while also trying to get the ball to go where I wanted it to! I do think having more control of the ball would be nice since it was a bit tedious to clean up the last few blocks sometimes. Maybe by making the bounce direction at least partially influenced to the player's aiming direction instead of pure reflection or something (wouldn't want to make it too easy). I'm also still not sure what all of the stats on the left side of the screen do lol. I ended up winning on the last level because I had two stacks of mitosis, and not all of the balls got cleared out after I beat a room, and then I bought a third mitosis at a shop - that made the balls multiply exponentially and lag the game super hard until it told me I had beaten the big square XD But it was so fun I played through it again and beat it legitimately.

Great work!

This is brilliant! I love the palette you used. The game looks and feels very polished - pretty impressive for a solo endeavour.

this game is really cool and a great original concept! for me it was extremely difficult to have any control whatsoever over the ball, unless i trapped it in a corner/against blocks with my paddle, which definitely seemed to be the best strategy. it was also how i killed the boss which happened in probably less than a second. i liked being able to pick up items that increased my stats but i had no idea what each of the stats did and there didn't seem to be any difference no matter how they changed. the graphics and audio were great and the gameplay was fun despite my issues with it. great job!

There are a lot of things going on here, but let me tell you what I liked the most:

  • It has fresh gameplay built around a solid core mechanic, while still fitting perfectly with the Retro theme of the jam.
  • I love how you worked with the low resolution and pixel rendering. It fits the jam perfectly.

There is clearly a lot of work behind this game. Great job!
