The title screen is a wall of parody game covers, all hand drawn, and it's the best thing here. PAYWOMAN, ROAD TRAFFIC ACCIDENT, "the last one remaster", "ball game this year" sitting right next to "ball game NEXT year" (which is the annual release joke in two words). It's a chaotic, funny collage and every cover is a small jab at the industry. "the last one REMASTER" got me.

Choosing Ren'Py to build a shop simulator is an unexpected call and the result has a handmade quality I liked. The boss character, a giant smiling pink head in a purple suit greeting you with "welcome my dear empleoyee", is crude but has charisma.

And your description is disarmingly honest: "if the game doesn't break, post your stats in the comments so I can see how unbalanced it is" and "I might fix the game, or maybe not, I'm tired". That's pure jam spirit and it genuinely made me like the entry more.

Things to fix if you do come back to it. The title screen has a clear rendering artifact, the covers appear mirrored and duplicated in the middle of the screen with the text reversed, which looks like a transition effect that got stuck. There are several typos ("empleoyee"). And the side menu (Start/Load/Preferences/About/Help) hides behind the covers and is nearly unreadable, which is a problem since it's the only way into the game.

Messy, and you know it, but that wall of parody covers is worth the visit on its own.

The game seems fun but I wasn't able to get very far as it crashed a few times before I gave up. I think the slide idea is fun but should maybe just stick with happening when transitioning through environments, I feel like every time someone drops something off is kinda much. I really like the hand drawn style you have and all of the silly game knock offs. I also have found that the math seems to be off, idk what exactly was going on but when I got a customer everything they dropped off seemed to total 455 but the correct option was apparently 835. I also noticed that the games can appear under the laptop in both position and layering and it makes it look a bit strange. Over all I love where this is going and want to see more in the future.

I appreciate your comment!

The game was supposed to show the transitions once but i made some mistakes and depending on your luck you could get 1 transition or 10.000, the pricing is wrong because some games appear outside of the screen or under other games or i was to tired when doing the math, anyway, thanks for playing!

Unfortunately, the game crashed upon meeting my first customer. That said, this game is funny as fk. Great sense of humor.

I appreciate your comments!

After 3 hours I belive I fixed that issue but I think I can't update the game until the jam ends, still, thanks for playing!

Cool concept, I quite like the style. Sadly I couldn't get past the first customer (which appeared after a surprising amount of slides, I only mention it because perhaps it has something to do with it crashing) because RS4 was 350 according to the computer and the customer kept giving me randomised prices, only once could I actually click 350 and it was wrong, in the end I happened to click 825 after a couple tries, it said that it was correct and then it simply crashed. Anyway overall I liked the game for so far that I could play!

Developer

When the customers buy a console they also bring games and you're supossed to give the price for everything, my bad for not explaining that but i guess it doesnt matter because the game crashes after that xd.

Im glad you liked it, i'm sorry for being so dissapointing

Oh no don't worry, it truly wasn't disappointing, I genuinely quite enjoyed it and if I have time maybe I'll try again knowing how to actually play it:), perhaps the crash only happens if it takes 5 times to guess. As for bugs, I'm pretty sure they always happen (my game doesn't scale to the window correctly which forces players to only look at a tiny version of the game in the top left corner), so no disappointment there! (Also hopefully future players read the comments so that they'll know how the pricing works on their playthrough.)

Developer

I appreciate your kindess, if i had to bet, i'd say the issue is that I forgot to add the reaction to getting the price right.

Hope you're having a fine evening or day or time zone!

Same to you!
