End life plan
ARCHIVISTE will stay playable on web until itch.io no longer allows it, but I prepared a Windows executable/Linux & MacOS DRM-free in case people want to play it out of itch.
You can export your highscores of the game on two format (.txt and .png, a memorial)
There is also a optional daily online leaderboard, if the database ever shuts down or the player is offline, the game would just work on local scores.

Transparency note
I do use AI to assist my coding, use placeholder texts and if I have questions about how to make something for the game (Did it especially for the two shaders)

This game is super fun, but really needs a better thumbnail.

For my money this is the entry that understood the jam best. The premise isn't a metaphor for Stop Killing Games, it IS the thing: a server going dark, a deletion wall sweeping the world from left to right, and someone running ahead of it grabbing whatever can still be saved. And because the wall physically pushes you, the urgency isn't stated, it's felt.

It's also beautiful. Petrol blue background with a subtle grid, green hills, particle dust, and the entities as glowing coloured diamonds with their point value written above them. The red wall on the left pulses and disintegrates as it comes. Top tier art direction.

And the best detail in the whole jam, honestly: the end screen has YOUR ARCHIVE with FULL RECORD (.txt) and OPEN THE MEMORIAL. The game lets you export your run as a text file and keep a memorial of what you saved. Along with the Export Save in Mars Rover Builder, that's the most coherent thing I've seen with the spirit of this jam. Your game doesn't just talk about preservation, it preserves.

The HUD is fully themed too: SCORE, COMBO with multiplier, SAVED / LOST (how many entities you rescued and how many were lost, which hurts in the right way), DEPTH in metres, and two ability bars with the key printed beside them. Even a GRACE PERIOD warning at the start so you can breathe. And having a DAILY SEED with TODAY'S BOARD is a level of ambition I did not expect from a jam entry.

I finished on 104 points with SAVED 2. The wall comes fast and it took me a while to understand I needed to keep moving RIGHT while collecting, my instinct was to explore. Only real critique: with that much HUD, the first ten seconds are a bit overwhelming, though the grace period already softens it.

One note: I didn't post a tag to today's board. It looks like a shared board and I didn't want to put something on it carelessly, but I'll happily come back and do a proper run for it. If someone plays only one more entry from this jam, it should be this one.

Was fun! The graphics were cool especially since you made them without using sprites

Polished and fun game

The main thing that sticks with me about this game is the implied and stated story behind the little node things I'm trying to save. Those are game elements that are being destroyed there. Playing and failing to archive the diamonds and such as the wall advanced killing almost all of or half of everything made me feel bad for the real world games that this essentially happens to. Basically, I found that emotional. It's sad to watch the wall take things out even if they are essentially basic shapes with text by them. This also seems to be the most impactful way to use the theme "High Score Chaser" in the Stop Killing Games community jam, considering how it's all about protecting games and your score in ARCHIVISTE is based on how many parts of a shutting-down game you manage to archive.

This is so good! Nuff said...

I loooove the theme here and the idea of an arcade-like experience. There's even tension as to how close the wall approaches you and the scoring system is pretty neat! :)

Thanks ! Glad you liked it :)
