This is a cool idea! I don't think I've seen this exact idea before. I wonder if there needs to be a little bit more of a reason to not keep the light on. I was able to beat it by keeping my brightness at max the whole time. But this is cool! Well done!
The controllable light level is a great mechanic. And can have so many applications. Great idea, and executed well
I love switching between the light levels! The enemies incentivise keeping dim but then you could walk straight into spikes or a pit. I think the balance was hit well between switching to and from bright, but I wish the invisible platforms were slightly more visible when using dimmer light. Great jam game!
Cool game and concept! Enjoyed the challenge, last level was quite hard
I really enjoyed the light mechanic, that was amazing and very well executed and was a perfect fit for a 2d platformer. Great Game
Enjoyed the game a lot.. mechanics are quite unique..maintaining the light levels like that..there can certainly be more unique additions to this..I loved this artsyle our little guy was so cute..I liked the game overall..Great work!!
Thank you, that's very kind of you!
And you're right, I think I could add a lot of things to it, and I think I will try to do so. :)
Such an interesting take on the count down theme and it was executed quite nicely! The gameplay is quite unique, I like how you made the count down mechanic a lot more strategic and your game's theme fit really well with the jam.
I feel like the level design should complement this gameplay mechanic though! Currently it's pretty linear, so the light levels changing is quite obvious. It also forces too much of a playstyle in my opinion! With the variety of the light levels, but I'm basically forced to use the bright light and attract the bats since I need to spawn the platforms. I feel like if more levels were designed with variety in mind, the core gameplay gimmick will really shine!
Thank you for the great feedback!
Unfortunately I didn't have a whole lot of time for level design, but you're absolutely right, it does often feel forced and I think I can do much better things with this mechanic, so I might work on that, but I will for sure keep it in mind for the next jam.
I also felt like most levels were too similar, so you kinda just do the same thing over and over again.
Again, thank you very much for the feedback and for the kinds words.
This is amazing. Music is a bit repetitive, but gameplay and mechanics are amazing, the art is simple and pretty and I LOVE games that do this kind of tutorial merged with gameplay. To me this is the best approach any game dev can have to tutorials. It can be a bit too punishing at times. Congrats, this is a great game.
You're right! I never even though about adding more and different music. But I'll keep it in mind for the next one.
I'm glad you liked it. :D
Yeah unfortunately I didn't have enough time for proper balancing and decent level design, so sometimes you're kinda forced to encounter the moths etc. I'll have to start play testing earlier next time and put a little less time in other things.
Thank you for the feedback! I really appreciate it.
Absolute master piece!!
Thank you! That means a lot!
Loved playing this game!
Thank you, I'm glad you liked it!
Love the little fire guy and how you're walked through the mechanics, I could see this being a fully fledged game.
Thank you!
I wasn't sure if I overdid it a bit with the walkthrough, but I'm glad you liked it!
Well, I think I will actually keep working on this, so I hope I'll actually get there :)
I think it had the perfect balance :) And yes, keep it up. I would love to see this evolve :)
