Feels kind of experimental, similar to Yume Nikki with the whole "entering and waking up from a dream state" vibe the player repeatedly undergoes. It's not a bad idea, but the clunkiness of the controls (i.e. slower/lagging movements when moving diagonally continuously, presence of invisible barriers on paths that seem walkable) as well as the lack of an initial "prod" at the start of the game takes away some of the charm.
My main critique is that the player has to keep waiting for the fallen tree at the start of the path to "reset" before they can start exploring (or reexploring) the map, as indicated by the start of the music cue. I refreshed my game the first time it happened because I thought something went wrong, but once I understood what was happening the wait time sapped my enjoyment considerably upon returning for future explorations because I couldn't gauge how long it would last.
Also, I think you accidentally labelled the "Drop Lantern" control button as "A" (which is already used for Movement), since it turned out to be "Q" after some keyboard mashing. When I got to the "Dock Lantern" section of the map however, I couldn't tell what button to press in order to activate the interaction even after trying the entire letter keyboard.
I enjoyed the music, it was minimalistic and yet it fitted the vibe of the game pretty well. The overall art direction felt coherent. However, I didn't understand what to do and what the consequences of my actions were. I believe that an introduction of a tutorial of some kind or even a context of what the game wants from a player whould improve the gamefeel for the players. See the potential though
i think it was tough to figure out what to do, but i love the inspirations here and the vibe was cool
Hmm... sadly i didn't fully understood the game but the artstyle was good!
Hi! Thank u or the feedback :3
I'm aware that the game lacks a meaningful amount of communication about what there is to do and how to do it. I overscoped quite a bit and didn't get to do that properly lol...
But I plan on polishing the game after the jam, so hopefully i'll get that fixed up :)
As a big fan of Outer Wilds I was excited to try it. But maybe I didn't fully understand the mechanics and didn't get very far. But hey, what are those sounds coming from the dark? I'll still be interested in that :D
Thank you for your feedback! I do think the game is a bit confusing lol, it was hard planning it all! I think if you follow the paths and interact with what you see you should get a hold on what to do? Anyways, I'll probably expand on this game in the near future, so stay tuned if you wanna see more :)
Peak gaming made me learn patience
Yayyyy thank you! Hope you enjoyed :)
Hello! The art was magnificent, the orange on the trees' canopies was stunning. I also liked the credits in the beginning. :) I wish the music started earlier in the ghost world. Perhaps the problem was that I haven't played with the referred DLC, therefore, I did not understand my objective, and got into a loop - light the lantern - find a crow (5/5?), find a fountain, go back to hoody guy realm. I repeated the same a few times, and did not find what I should have done. Keep up the good work, this can go somewhere outside of the jam! Congrats for the submit.
Hey! Thanks a lot for your feedback :)
The pixel art was mostly made by my friend Valderd, huge shoutout to him because the game wouldn't have looked half as good without him lol. I feel like the game is a bit confusing overall and I don't think really think that the problem is you specifically. I didn't want to put indications because i thought it would ruin the vibe, but now i do think it is hard to know what to do...
Thank you again for the kind words, and just to let you know I'll be remaking the game a little bit better in a while, so you can follow either my youtube channel or our itch account in order to stay tuned!
hey also you really should play echoes of the eye, awesome extension to an awesome game! 100% worth the ~15 bucks :3
