It took me awhile to figure out the rules, but, once I did, I had a blast! It's a good puzzle (esp. with the cards to mix things up) and its satisfying filling up the board. I really do wish the gems were at least always sorted numerically. There were a lot of times I typed the value of the gem instead of the slot it was in, leading to a wrong placement and game over. Even with that those, this was fun!

I think there is a couple variants that may be cool to implement to avoid problem that you mentioned:

  • sort numerically (but it makes 8-directional card that always blocks the last slot a lot worse)
  • value assigned to the button instead of the slot as 9 is maximum number
  • add rewind button (just now thought of it).

if i come back to this game, i'll definetly implement some of those.

anyhow, thank you very much for playing my game, glad you liked it!!!

For some reason, the screen is too big for my monitor and there seems to be no way to shrink it down

Developer (2 edits)

I am sorry this happened. I somehow expected that everybody has 1920x1080 monitors, and everywhere set such resolution, maybe thats the case? I changed some embed option for my page (set it click to launch in fullscreen instead of embedded and enabled scrollbars). If you have time, please try again and say me whether it works or not this time.

Edit: if your resolution does not allow you to go into full screen without game screen being cut, maybe you also need to mess with zoom of game page outside of the game itself (while not being full screen game is fully playable now, just too big).

For the record, my monitor is 1920x1200. Maybe the problem is my aspect ratio? Regardless, I zoomed out the screen and it works now.

Thank you for your feedback!

Nice game for a first game jam!

I needed to play twice to really understand the rules, because they are not usual to me (and that a good thing for creativity). Audio is nice, art is nice but some gems could be made more readable (the gem 6 is quite difficult to read at first).

Developer

yeah i agree about gems. but it was partially intentional, no matter how bad of a decision it was. After all, We are playing as a jeweler who should know how prescious stones are or at least be able to distinguish it.

Anyways, thank you very much for playing!

Fun little game, a nice first game jam entry. Generally, I liked the gameplay and the card system (even if I didn't make much use of it, but that's besides the point XD). It would have been cool if the scoring system had been explained in the tutorial, but that's a minor point, as it is relatively simple. Overall, good job :D
