I love the artwork and polish! I think the upgrades could be tweaked, but there's good bones here. Well done! :D
I love games like this! The idea, art, and audio are great but I agree with others the balancing could use some work. Otherwise I think you have a great game, very cool!
Good concept, and I like the artwork, audio and animations but seems poorly balanced as the only upgrades that seemed useful at the start are bullet count and damage. Also having to just wait once you run out of bullets was pretty annoying, especially at the very beginning where you just shoot one bullet then have to wait which felt confusing. But with some balancing and gameplay tweaks it would be a pretty good game.
Interesting, but not balanced all that well. I love the feel, presentation and sounds, but the core loop is has a couple of flaws. First, when you run out of shots, you have literally nothing to do but wait. It might have been interesting to add some sort of melee mechanic so you had something to do. Also, the enemies don't drop enough gold for the upgrades at first. So it takes a while to scrape together enough gold to buy extra bullets, more damage etc. I played until I had the max 4 shots, and a damage up. I was able to kill all the enemies with a single well placed shot, but then had to wait for them to beat up the chest to continue.
I couldn't see the point of making the 'tower' have more health. That would just slow the game down even further. The other upgrades made less sense too. And if I were to save enough to get the double gold, what is there to incentivise me to keep playing beyond that?
It's a wonderfully ambitious game to attempt in a Jam. It feels great, I love the excessive knockback on the shotgun. It's just challenging and engaging enough during combat. But the core loop doesn't work from a player's perspective.
I'm pretty sure there's a good game in there somewhere, just needs a little bit of tweaking to find it.
Yep, crisp and solid game setup but the progression is a little too slow at first, coupled with just waiting for the health to go down. It could really do with something there to boost the gameplay a bit.
Cool concept and great art!
Good job on the game feel! My only gripe would be not being enjoyable to just wait for the structure to lose its health once all your shots are gone. Good work!
The game looks good. The sprites and animations are great. I especially like the blow back from the gun. I didn't understand how to move or what to do. I also feel like only giving the player one bullet is detrimental. Honestly, I played 3 times and was kinda over it because of how much I would have to go through just to get more bullets. Maybe add a melee weapon or something the player can switch so they aren't dead in a couple of seconds.
Sorry for the confusion, the controls should be in the game's description! If you want to get more bullets, try going to the upgrades section of the game!
WOW the animations are crisp in this game, and music/audio is well picked, good job on the game feel! Some of the tooltips fall out of the screen in the little web window, but the their pop in animation is so nice.
I was confused at first with how weak I was but I like the sense of progression you get from where you start.
It would be cool to have an activity to do while out of bullets. I feel like I'm just waiting for nothing when I'm out of bullets. I feel like skipping to the next level wouldn't work but maybe something else?
