How does your game fit the theme?
You are racing against the clock, with only one minute left to live, killing enemies is the only way to extend your life by a couple of seconds.

The few assets not made by me all fall under the creative commons licence, with no attribution required. That said, I want to shout out the Parallax mapping shader by binbun, which I used to make the background.

Simple, stylish, addictive! Very fun. I was looking forward to see what upgrades I'd be offered and what new types of enemies would appear.

One small thought is that the difficulty could be tuned up a bit, as I found myself causing more bullet hell than the enemies after a handful of upgrades!

This game was pretty fun! love the visuals!  :>

I lasted 3 minutes! The background made it a bit hard for me to understand the movements at first but I was really well-surprised to see the upgrades!

I really liked this idea and the feel of everything. I do feel that it was difficult to get enough time and deal enough damage without a fire rate upgrade. The upgrade might be in the game, but I never lasted long enough to see it in my four plays.

My recommendations:

  1. Make sure that players can tell when they are hit. I knew when a ship was hit, but it wasn't always obvious when it was my ship or an enemy ship because the sound effects all sounded the same. Some visual feedback like a blinking ship might help.
  2. Increase the upgrade rate in the game. Especially for a short competition like this, it is good to get people going early and power them up with fun mechanics before they move on. Or, fudge the randomness on the upgrades to guarantee they get something more useful for early gameplay.
  3. I am sorry you didn't get to do music. But this type of game would really benefit from even some royalty free music.

I really enjoyed the game. I felt like the difficulty of the enemies rose faster than my power did, but I loved the design and idea.

Well done!

The artwork on background is nice and count down idea was implemented well, but yellow "time" particles are too small, because of these you don't see them and die first tries, without undersstanding what you are doing wrong. Also, game could be really better with background music . Good luck!
