I like the funny physics that can happen with the characters (and being able to spin Reimu around)! It makes for a very unique take on the schmup concept. It also stands out to me personally due to some of the other games that I play (ex: Crypt of the Necrodancer local co-op). Also, the main portrait illustration gets a lot of good use and it's fun to look at.

I did wonder about the layout, and if there might be a way to add more visual flair to the UI elements (ex: scoreboard, leaderboard). In fact, I can see this being expanded into an entire full game, if that becomes an interest - although it does make for a good quick game as is. Well done!

Thank you! I’m glad you liked my game ^^

I used the main art multiple times due to lack of drawing skills… Might expand it into a proper story where you actually defeat the evil yokai.

Now that was fun! It doesn't really seem possible to move Reimu well enough to dodge everything, so bombing becomes mandatory, but finding a way to survive while getting enough bomb powerups to be sustainable is an interesting gameplay dynamic.
I managed to get to the top of the leaderboard with a score of 2736, which kinda surprised me to be honest. Like, I'm not that good at shmups, so surely some of you can beat me. Well, what are you waiting for? (:

Developer(+1)

Buddy you are insanely goated at shumps if you can achieve a score of 2736 and also I am really glad that you liked the game ^^

I tried to give an unique bullet hell experience to players, hence the gameplay dynamic and physics mechanics for the homing shot. I really hope you enjoyed my playing my game :)

I'm really not though, the best I've ever accomplished in a mainline Touhou game is a 1cc on normal. With that said... I did just get a new high score of 2841.

There's definitely a significant element of luck in this game, with bomb drops being random unlike in the main Touhou games, but of course you can easily squander amazing rng if you don't play well enough. There's also a very interesting level of strategy in how you position yourself, you have to juggle safety, hitting the right enemies, and most interestingly, setting yourself up to be able to move later to get Reimu out of danger. I feel like I still haven't really mastered it, to be honest.

The RNG should be pretty fair… Because it isn’t really true rng, I just use standard C rand() function, means in every run the RNG should mostly be same for everyone. I guess you placed Reimu in a more strategic position than others which is why u r top on the leaderboard. Either ways having a 1cc on a mainline touhou game, even on normal difficulty is a pretty hard thing to do! Most touhou fans don’t even touch the bullet hell games…

Concept is interesting, kinda reminded me of Jacob and Esau from TBOI lol. But its fun. My only gripe is Reimu's homing is just aiming at that one enemy it wants to aim to until its alive that she gets kinda unreliable at times I guess and enemies being too tough but it was nice.

hehe thanks for your comment mate. for the sake of game jam, reimu’s homing logic is that it chooses the first non null pointer enemy in the enemy array xd, ofc there are better algorithms… but i really wanted to showcase my physics tether idea for bullet hell. As for enemies being too tough I wanted to make each gameplay quite short for endless runner, I’m aware the enemy difficulty increases exponentially.

I am really happy to know that you liked my game ! ^^

Interesting concept. I wish there was a two player mode. Feels like it'd go well with the chain.

Thanks for your comment, Maybe I will try that in the post jam version but I think controls will be even more difficult.

Glad you liked my game ^^
