How did you implement the Theme: Devious Puppeteer in your game?
We implemented the theme by creating a platformer centered around a puppet trying to escape the Puppeteer's workshop they woke up in.

Did you implement any of the Bonus Challenges, and if so, which ones?
First bonus challenge, the set of the platformer is a puppet stage. The third bonus challenge, as the player takes damage, their limbs get restricted visually by the puppeteer.

Does your game contain AI-generated assets?

No

Attempted to Naruto run.

Died in the stupidest way possible.

Although me getting used to Shift + W made me confused there, it is a funny speedrun-sort of game. I liked how the revive system is basically timing the heartbeat, and I liked the funny cutscenes (Pizza Tower? But with more angy?).

But the difficulty could scale if you use too many revives (At a certain point, you might just get a heart attack entirely after a bunch of revives). Still found it funny to Naruto run.

After getting to the end of the level, it was fun seeing how the character escapes from the puppeteer! And here are some of the things I noticed when playing:

  • The resolution of the game is big, which isn't a bad thing, but it wasn't scaling that well even in fullscreen mode, I ended up playing the game with 60% zoom on my browser just to see everything.
  • The level throws a lot of things at the player at once.
  • When jumping at the top of the screen, the player can still get hit from objects off screen.
  • The revive mechanic was cool and I noticed it gets faster the more often it's triggered, but I think it should have sped up more frequently as for most of the level it felt like it barely changed. Which meant that I could just hold down Shift and run to the right and just avoid all damage if I timed the hearts correctly, with very little consecquences. If the revive was faster overall, I think the player would play more cautiously.
  • The visuals are very well done! Very smooth animations as well!

Overall it's an entertaining game! With a charming visual style on top of that.
