The more polished parts of the art are really well done and charming!
Gameplay-wise, this was very fun! I think the mechanic of card durability was very unique and could be used as an alternative to stamina systems. Would love to see an expanded version of this!
It was fun to try to figure out the right order of cards to defeat the enemies, great :)
This was a fun puzzle game! I think a little more music would've gone a long way. Still, it was an enjoyable and cool experience. Good work!
A neat game! Really liked the simple pleasure of "make big number go boom", and the surprising amount of thinking it took to make a good combo. It really feels like playing a card game and getting to execute on a really well set up combo... honestly leaning into "card combo the game" would be a neat direction to take this!
Pretty fun! It was pretty easy to understand and I had a fun time puzzling out all the encounters.
Durability count down huh? The most hated trait in action games made a puzzle, very smart braining there!
This was a really cool concept! I went in expecting more of a deckbuilder or card game, but instead I got a really neat little puzzle! They definitely got me thinking, though I wish there were a few more. Some other thoughts:
- I do feel like the audio balancing was pretty rough. Even a basic backing track would have gone a long way, especially since there was a lot of thinking time in silence, and the card selection noise was a bit loud and distracting.
- The visuals worked just fine, I think.
- I think everything was explained fairly well, though I don't see the point in the player having HP if every enemy attack is going to kill you anyways.
- I feel like some cards had more durability than they really needed. Cards like Patch Up only really seem valuable for their break effect, so the two attack before that felt a bit unnecessary to me. Perhaps more cards with effects beyond their break effect, or puzzles where you don't have Cascade as a major damage-dealer, could solve this?
- I think the difficulty progression was solid. The first puzzle in particular really stood out to me as a great way to get the player in the right headspace for the game as a whole.
I'm excited to see where this idea goes next! I'd definitely play a few more rounds.
A very cool concept, reminds me of the lethal puzzles from hearthstone. It took me a sec to understand how the breaking and the durability of the cards worked but once i did it was a very enjoyable experience.
Gives me puzzle game vibes
Artwork on the cards is really well done, love all the different enemy types. Managed to bluff my way through the first couple levels before I realised I had to think about my attack lol Really interesting take that each card's durability counts down. I really enjoyed the gameplay for this card battler.
yea its fun to have to think first before doing the setup for the attacks
Love how this handles the card battler, seems like an average battler until the 2nd or 3rd matchup where you realize you need to line up each card to defeat your opponent. A creative spin on a short game. Don't know how to rate the artwork though since it's all borrowed but the hovering effect is very satisfying so I'll give you that
I absolutely love this concept. At first it seems like a regular turn-based RPG, but realising that you have limited attacks and need to use your breaking cards to your advantage turns it into a really engaging puzzle game. Taking down enemies with huge healthbars using crazy, multiplicative attack combos is super satisfying. The presentation is pretty standard but I really like the fancy effect when you hover over a card with the mouse. This is a solid little game and would make for a great fully-fledged game. Great work.
