Nice game !
The art and enviroment feels great with the camera position and the audio is good too. The gameplay is fun and challenging with the boss fight.
Obviously needs some polishing, for example a timer as the one in the boss area for each time you enter an area with enemies and invisible walls to make you kill all the enemies before going to the next area: Thats cause now you can ignore evey enemy and go into the boss and also feels weird not having life bar for your character in the previous sections of the boss, so my suggestions would help with that. I suggest you fix the fact that you can walk over enemies and a great thing to make the game feel more polished (altough very optional) its making enviroment items such as barrels impassable but destructible when hit. Last thing i would say is that the player already knows the controls when he reaches the boss, so i would remove the control icons in the screen during the boss figth, so there is only the relevant info (as you already know controls). All in all, you made a very solid game, congrats !
Also, you can try my game if you want, it just takes 5 minutes ;)
I cannot BELIEVE you did all this in 4 days, that is super impressive!! I love the camera work, and the movement felt very satisfying! I do wish I could more effectively aim the left click attack though.
This was sick! I really liked the boss fight, nice job!
Man, I'm glad you had fun, it means a lot!
Very classic but nice boss. Really nice animations, but you could only attack to one side.
Thanks! With all the feedback I finally understood why that bug happens. Will fix it right after the voting ends!
Nicei
Camera following was a bit clunky (an attack would block it then it would try to get in place fast) but we can felt the Nier inspiration here ! It was a great idea to have the three floors to get accustomed with the command, but having a better understanding of enemies HP and that your future HP would be a timer would have been a plus.
Great feedback, thanks for playing!
Not sure what your inspiration was, it reminded me a bit of the Nier games with the camera angles and the intensity of the music. Fun concept, the feedback on the boss didn't read super well, but cool nonetheless.
Haha you nailed the inspiration, Nietzsche! I'm glad you've had fun, a concept dear to you after all, I'll rework the game and eliminate those pain points as soon as the voting phase is finished, I'd be interested to know if the feedback still wouldn't read well to you!
I assume this is the first time you do a project in 3D in such a short amount of time so I'm not gonna complain about the quality. You did your best, I do think having the timer as your hp is a pretty neat little concept tho I'll give you that.
Nice concept and a pretty solid implementation as well. However The final boss fight was a bit weird, the boss would retreat behind the stairs where I could not hit the boss at all, the moves while decently choreographed had some issue where I thought I had escaped but I had not.
The sound design is decent and parry is great. The art style and the level design is cool as well, it reminds me somewhat of the old GoW games.
I will say the hit detection and responsiveness could use some work and I would prefer to attack in multidirection rather than singular direction.
But overall I still had fun playing it.
Thanks for playing, it means a lot you've had fun playing it! Great feedback, I'll fix those points right after the voting phase :)
I think it is a pretty cool game idea.
I don't think I have much to say that dear Harmony here had not said.
Well, if you had more time, i'm sure you would have made a much more impressive game. But it is the same with all game jams as we do not have the luxury of time XD.
Haha indeed, it's my first time doing a game jam this short, it caught me off-guard! Thank you so much for playing :)
Impressive boss animations, cool intrepation of the theme. Feedback outside of the parry is weak and I was unsure if I was even hitting the boss frequently, the lil guys could serve to have an animation for shooting their projectile as it is hard to time a parry when it just spawns with no warning. Camera was a lil funky and a minor accessibilty issue (especially in the context of a game jam) is the dash being bound to shift only is hard to use comfortably as someone who uses mouse in left hand.
Thank you for playing the game! Completely agree on your feedback! Camera being funky means that your movement input was not as you expected after the angles change, correct? Did not think of the accessibility issue, that's indeed quite a problem.
Yeah the camera turning around corners changes where the like 8 way directions are even if I think it didn't matter too much with the level design you did have. Forgot to mention, but the boss can fly outside the arena and got stick a tiny bit on some wall for like 5 seconds.
Pretty cool! It got intense real quick on the boss second phase lol
I feel it would be easier to aim attacks and dodge/parry projectiles if the camera was more on top of the character.
Great feedback thanks! I'll run some experiments, how bothersome were the controls according to you?
I felt it was a bit hard to tell if my strikes were hitting the enemies that's why I was suggesting camera position could be improved. But moving the character was simple to understand.
Another thing you could try for the camera is putting it behind the character so it feels like a third person game. Potentially it could make perspective more consistent and the player will get used to it. Sort of like a 3D mario game
Interesting, thank you!
Cool idea to lose time instead of health. Artwork was solid. My biggest gripe is the controls, it would probably feel fine with a controller, but using keyboard and mouse, I expect my guy to face my mouse cursor. So I kept swinging my sword in the wrong direction.
Glad you liked it, what you describe was the main control scheme, but I somehow thought back to how Hades did it.. Except well.. It is quite a different game... Thanks for playing I'll update the controls after the voting period!
