Heyo, can someone from the team please add me on Discord? @sudo
AAA these two are so cute! I loved this so much, excellent work! I really like their character designs and the custom name tags above the dialogue box, it's very charming! Without any choices or any other kind of interactivity it was definitely just reading a story sort of flow, which I don't mind but definitely doesn't give the player much to do besides enjoying the story (which everyone hopefully does :3). I will also say that the perspective shift between Button and Chico's thoughts was a little abrupt, I might need to reread through the story to be sure but sometimes you had a fade transition that worked well from Button to Chico, but right at the end it was a little jarring to suddenly get Button's inner monologue on the bus. I'm used to that from years and years of fanfic reading but just wanted to point that out if you all plan to develop this story further, not a huge complaint just something that I noticed.
Awesome work again, if you are planning for more I am eager to wait and see!
a short, endearing game!! the art was cute (we especially loved chico's old picture), the characters were written in a way that made us really connect with them, get into the story... which made us all the more upset when the game ended :( we wanted to see more!!
also we feel like some interactivity (even something small like having to click on doors to change locations or some dialogue choices that only change some flavor) would have made the experience even more enjoyable, and an option to view dialogue history would be cool too. but still, it was a nice little game and we hope we get to see more of these two in the future!!
Thank you for your feedback! A few enviromentals were planned (Characters commenting on cheesy posters found in high schools, mostly) Alongside other features like a pause system and dialogue history, but since the save system was in a very early prototyping stage hours before the jam, it made it unrealistic to expect people to shotgun 20+ minutes.
Hopefully after the jam ends we can focus on adding back these features, and all the feedback people have left during the review process, there's already working dialogue script for around 35 minutes of story 🐭👍
Very cute little game. I love the character designs!
Incredibly charming experience, with a great, cute artstyle that I felt matched the soft, yet complicated vibe of the story, and an almost unbearably well written display of two gay idiots who can't figure out and understand the incredibly obvious signals they send to one another!
If I *had* to nitpick, I'd say that more foley sounds could've been used, like the laughing at the beginning of the game. However, of course, that's just a nitpick, and I think you all did a great job here! :3
Thank you! Technically these are in the game, they are prosody-esque synth punches but in the current state there's sound effects and background music, using the current system and playing back these clips in the correct timing for lines proved to be a bit harder than expected.
There's already interest in incorporating these back into the game, and also adding parts of the script that were not available due to similar discrepancies, which are (on a word-count based comparison) 65% more dialogue than there is currently. 🐭👌
I haven't finished it so I'm unsure how it interprets the theme, but I loved everything so far!
Also, how long is the game? I've been playing this on stream with a friend voice acting button while I do Chico, but I'm concerned about giving time for everyone's games and I want to play around it cause I definitely wanna finish this game on stream!
Thank you! The game is meant to be played in a single sitting as it doesn't have a save system, so I would say it would roughly take you 20-30 minutes to read the whole thing? Although it might take longer if you're dubbing every single line.
Also, if you can, could you send me a link to the stream/VOD? I would love to see it :D
I liked the story, the characters feel very well written! Best of luck with your next steps on this project!
Not the hugest fan on visual novels but i gave this one a chance and it was super duper cute!!! Quite impressive for 6 days work, i love the Artists styles and was thoroughly entertained :3
