How does your game fit the theme?
Your weapons fire after a 2 second countdown, and the game revolves around positioning yourself in that countdown. Buying upgrades for your weapons reduces the time to complete the run.

I’m surprised this doesn’t have more ratings! It’s very fun to play and the upgrades are very satisfying (if a bit overpowered at times). The music was quite catchy, and between the metronome and the sound effects from my powers, it was like crafting my own battle soundtrack. The UI could maybe be cleaned up a bit and the graphics clarified (maybe have an actual ground texture?), but otherwise I really enjoyed my time with it!

Developer(+1)

I'm glad you liked it! Yeah, a sprite for the floor is a good call!

Had a blast playing this ^^ At some point I picked up enough rockets, shurikens and a big falling gear that I didn’t even have to do anything anymore. I was just idling until the audio broke and the game eventually froze at 1:35 haha! Was quite fun until that point though, even though I did struggle a bit with the controls initially, but the power scaling and just grabbing fun upgrades was quite enjoyable!

Developer

Thank you for playing! Yeah, on top of figuring out what's causing those crashes, I should probably figure out another enemy type to stop players from just saying in one spot after they've taken a few strong upgrades...

Very good execution of a simple concept, well done ! The sounds are very satisfying once you start having a lot of weapons 😄

Maybe the difficulty is too low, starting wave 6 I didn't even have to more anymore haha

Well done overall :)

Developer(+1)

Thanks! Yeah with some builds you can get a great loadout pretty quickly and then you don't have to move for the rest of the run. For other weapons you're likely to get bombarded with Boomscrollers & Graphires if you try that lmao. Balancing is definitely something I'll work on after the jam.

I appreciate the art with a simple brush when you have to deal without an artist when making a solo game. SFX and music are really good and the gameplay programming is well-made.

I'm glad you liked it!

Game concept was good. UI needs lots of work.

Submitted(+1)

This was fun, liked how you did the time but like others said it was overwhelming so maybe tone it down if you continue working on it

Developer

Thank you for playing! Just to be clear, do you mean overwhelming in terms of how powerful the player can get, or overwhelming in terms of the enemies you can get on-screen?

Submitted(+1)

Big, silly fun. I enjoyed the driving soundtrack and the simple but juicy visuals. The game is quite easy once you really get going, but then, that's kinda the point of these "bullet heaven" style games. You almost have too much time to spend on upgrades, but watching the screen become a flood of bullets slicing through enemies like butter is funny and satisfying. Great work!

Developer

The runs where you're totally shredding through enemies are the best lol. I'm glad you liked it!

Both mechanics were pretty cool, I got real overpowered before realizing that I used all my time and was totally screwed. Maybe a little UI element to show you what you are spending would be good? I really liked all the juice, sfx was super punchy and I was a big fan of that. Nice job!

Developer

Ooh good idea, yeah for the next version I should maybe shake around the timer/change color whenever you select an upgrade.

Submitted(+1)

really nailed the countdown theme, found it to be fun and enjoyable, loved the timer as currency for upgrades. I did break the game on the final wave by jumping too many times in a row (I think) so consider this a bug report but overall I loved it!

Developer(+1)

If the game crashed, it was probably a memory issue with too many on-screen entities? Regardless, I'm glad you liked it!

What a fun and punchy game! The art and UI felt a bit bare-bones, but I loved the character movement, the upgrades were fun, and the upcoming enemies panel was a nice touch. Nice work!

Developer(+1)

Thank you for playing! This was my first time using Godot 4's UI features, and I definitely got to a point where I decided default buttons looked good enough ha ha. I'd definitely improve the visuals if I return to this project in the Post-Jam Jam!

I love the concept that the music is linked with the bulled you shoots! Like the multiples options too, it was very fun ! Maybe this is just my PC but the game became very laggy around 8 wave and completely freeze in the wave 4! (playing on the website)
I'm just curious about the end of the game!

Developer

Ugh yeah, I think having too many entities on-screen is overloading the browser memory? You can try the download version to see if it works better. There is a boss battle at the end of the game!

Fun little game :)

I think the hangar was free for me...

Developer

Hm? Was there an issue where buying items in the garage didn't lower your time? That's strange...

Fun game to play.

First run i was like: Oh i can get every upgrade :), oh im so powerful :D, oh i have 1 minute to complete the whole game :/

The gameplay is nice and satisfying, theres some variety of weapons, variety of enemies, only problem is the frame rate going down. My game froze, i change to EXE file and the frame rate still went low at the end.

Great job though!

Also, you can try my game if you want, it just takes 5 minutes ;)

Developer(+1)

Oof, yeah the engine probably has difficulty with the number of objects on-screen especially if you use the upgrades that give you lots of copies of weapons.

Glad you had fun though!

Good art style, nice sound feedback, fun to play. Love the dynamic of spending time to clear a wave for tools to clear wave faster <- this is such cool concept.

Also BELL IS HILARIOUS WEAPON I WAS LAUGHING FOR GOOD FIVE MINUTES STRAIGHT

Developer

Thank you so much for playing! Bell runs are so fun lmao

I became EXTREMELY OP almost immediately, but I still had a lot of fun blowing everything up. I was really impressed by the efficient use of the art for movement too. Despite being simple it was really obvious what all the movement was, the rocket hands type poses. Very well used.

Good job :)

Developer

Yeah the balance was hard to work out, some of the more OP weapons/upgrades definitely should have cost more time. That's how it goes in a first jam iteration of a concept, I suppose!

The vibes are awesome, the tunes, the beats, feels very satisfying. The artstyle is very cool, and the different enemies are fun. Definitely a great game, good job :)

Developer(+1)

Thank you! Glad you liked it!

Wait this is the coolest take I've seen in SO long for tower defense / vampire survivors / rhythm games! I love how the cost to obtain upgrades is your own level time because it rewards players who go slow and steady (they spend less) AND players who go fast and spend lots.

I feel like a neat improvement to that mechanic could be giving players a little additional seconds on the clock per round (maybe like +1 minute per round) or something; that way it would incentivize spending more because players who clear levels fast enough will farm extra currency. Just a thought. Overall fantastic concept!! And I love the fidget spinner enemies lol

Developer

I'm glad you like it!

Yeah that's a good point about giving time after each wave, there are some survivors-likes that recover health after each round to encourage more aggressive play so that would be the equivalent. There's definitely a lot more I could do through tweaking the numbers once judging is done!

The stick figure art was endearing, good job :) Movement felt a lil funky to get used to but otherwise enjoyable!

Developer

Clocksbane's got places to be!

The animations on the main character made my day! Such a great idea and a really well-done execution. Loved it!
