The portraits and Ran's sprites are nice to look at! The dialogue made for a fascinating deep look at Ran's backstory with Yukari. Well done there!

A decent game all around. I like the backstory for ran and yukari, with it being a nice read. The runback to the boss was annoying though, and it was like a jump in difficulty. The whole gameplay was just buggy.

I mean besides that it's alright, had my fun. Don't have much to say.

- Gameplay and balance notes:
--Can go out of screen bounds if you wanna cheese lol
infinitely so
--No skip button, had to mash through dialogue after the game overs, didn't really enjoy that
--The pacing is really off-putting, it's lots of very short shooting parts between long parts of dialogue - so the cutscenes feel like they disrupt the gameplay too much.

-- The enemy waves are on the unchallenging side (that can be OK, but when the difficulty doesn't move up enough, that's where it becomes boring). Though an enemy could get a cheap shot in if you're unfortunately placed at the start of a wave.

-- The boss fight is surprisingly tough. Having to go through all the enemy waves and dialogues to try the boss fight again feels like a harsh punishment.

The overall pacing of the game is really odd. Though I like that this is a Ran backstory.

very cool, i have not seen much about pre-shikigami ran. it is very easy to skip text accidentally and hard to skip text on purpose (as in if you die and are replaying)! but i must commend the amount of text; it goes in-depth on the story given the singular environment.

also the danmaku is very fast and very difficult!

It's stuck at the main menu for me, no key or mouse button does anything, but I'm playing on linux so it may just be that there's some weird incompatibility with proton.

i loved the story and art, though i wasn't able to beat the boss fight at the end even after several attempts.
