This game is clever! Using planets to slingshot yourself and optimizing your fuel to make sure you go as far as possible is actually quite enjoyable.

I will say for anyone trying to play this game, it's much better downloaded (I noticed the web build had a lot of stuttering and the audio was strange, even with the fluid thingo off - none of that was a problem in the desktop one even with it on for me. Note that my computer is relatively new).

I like the melody of planets when you enter each orbit, and the art is superb.

Possible improvements:

- Maybe optimize it further? even though I could play it on desktop it would spontaneously crash. Surprising given the graphics don't look too intensive (although obv lots of physics computing involved). It stopped me from enjoying the game as much as I could have.

- I didn't really understand what the goal was, just to find new areas? it would be nice if there was some incentive to going around and finding new areas. And maybe providing a little more direction to the player would help.

Overall quite fun, would recommend continuing the project!

Thanks so much for the detailed feedback!

The crash is new information for us, so anything you can remember that could help us narrow the problem down would help a ton - especially whether it happens at a particular moment.

On the web stuttering, you're right, and we have a fixed build ready since yesterday. We're just waiting for the jam voting to end before uploading it.

On the goal, that's fair, we need to signal it better. It's meant to be exploration, with the leaderboard as the pull: chasing a higher score makes running into black holes and new areas basically inevitable. Clearly not communicated well enough yet, and we're already rethinking how that hook works for the full version ;)

Also, a small confession about the orbit melodies - they're not really melodies, just tones whose volume scales with your distance from each planet. The fact that it comes out sounding musical is a happy accident, and we're very happy you noticed it.

Thanks for playing!

Ahh I see, that’s so cool that it ended up being a melody. And great to see that there’s a better build waiting to be uploaded soon!

For the crash I don’t remember too many details unfortunately, basically it just turned white and everything froze; I has to close the app entirely to get it to work although once it did start working by itself again (before freezing again lol).

Sorry idk if that was helpful but it’s all I remember.

This is a fantastic concept! will this be a full game??? I really enjoy the slingshot physics and smart usage of gravity, very very awesome game

Thank you! :D You clearly are in the orbital mechanics fan club like us!
Yes, we will extend the game after the game jam, soooo many new ideas came last days - it needs to happen :)

Really cool and unique game. I loved the audio and artwork, and the core mechanic is something i've never seen in a game before. It was fun to try and master.

Also I saw your comment on the game page about the web version being laggier than the executable. I wasn't able to comment on that page but in the embed options in the itch.io game settings, if you set it to "Click to Launch in fullscreen" instead of Embed in Page, it fixes a lot of those problems. At least for our game it did. The embed limits games to 60fps and makes them feel laggy.

Thank you! That is just the gravity charm :) I am glad you liked it as much as we do :D
Huge thanks for the embed trick. We are also preparing a performance fix to release as soon as rating is over.
That was a good lesson for us all.
