The introduction UI of the numbers in a shape and then exploding was awesome. The sounds effects went with the game really well and I thought having to type the letters in a certain amount of time was a good idea for a mechanic. Nice work!
This game is a hidden gem! Love the art and theming, it is so unique and well done, especially outside of gameplay. While the gameplay was short and simple, it is very fun. This game has a lot of potential beyond this game jam. Very well done and amazing job!
I really liked the game. The only thing is that there comes a point where you don't do much and just let the enemies start to pile up, but it's incredible how they keep scaling up. I really like the atmosphere, and how the art can look so good while keeping its simple style. Very good sound and a very good game.
I'm a sucker for ACII art so as soon as I saw the banner I knew I wanted to play this game. What really dragged me in was the cryptic gameplay and the immaculate sound design. The crunches and MIDI notes that trigger when hitting enemies, the nostalgic pips of navigating the menus and the understated yet cohesive main title theme all made this game feel SO GOOD to play. The little screen shakes add incredible tactile feedback to what is otherwise a standard survivor-like experience, elevating it to the next level. The upgrade names favor immersion over immediate understanding, but also are elegantly straightforward. My initial burst of confusion was amped up by the frenetically increasing pace of the final waves on the first playthrough, but it felt intentional. By observing how the character moved in response to each upgrade I could intuit what the upgrade names implied and craft a more intentional build on my second playthrough. That feeling of discovery made me feel more immersed and was just really well integrated. A gameplay element I really liked was the "full screen wipe" QTE move on loop every ~15 seconds or so, since at first I didn't know whether failing the QTE would negatively impact me in some way and it thus added further tension. I've never seen someone have that as a base move in a survivor-like but it works really well!
Tl;dr this a great game taken further by a good sense of aesthetics and tactical SFX. Thoroughly enjoyed.
I love the art direction this game took, working with simple sprites to make a cohesively styled game!
I don't really feel like I understood what was going on, I was just pressing buttons and I couldn't really tell what the upgrades were doing. Nice game feel though! I liked the diegetic start menu in the shell
I really love all of the effects with the screenshake and the background trailing mini @. Gameplay was pretty fun. I liked the QTEs but it was kinda easy until the end bit but I got to the end. The upgrades stopped coming in a certain point so wished there were more.
Nice concept, but the upgrades are so powerful lol, I like the press buttons mechanic too. It seems like mouse is not needed at all? I just used WASD, and the other keys as well.
This is some game you would find in a 70s arcade, the type of game that starts the idea of 'Games'. You should be proud of the outcome. Very nice! really reminds me of those retro arcades
i love the art style. good game overall
