The obsession with dwarves is really getting absurd

To be honest I feel dwarves don't have that much potential at all, it's just one very specific stereotype and there is only so much that can be done with it. yet developpers have this obsession of wanting to try every single thing with dwarves and use them for every single games and every single variation of the same genre. Hell even the names are just annoying, dwarven this, dwarven that,...

This looks very artificial, because you were never meant to make every sort of game using only dwarves for some reason, hell even for underground games you could use other races and not always the same thing. The worst part is this has been going on for years and it's not stopping, everyone is still obsessed with making yet more games on dwarves, even if people are sick of them, even if they do not sell, even if they are told dwarves have been overdone. I don't even know what to say at this point, not everything should be about dwarves, it's time to put an end to all that and maybe, just maybe give love to forgotten races like elves who mind you don't have games on them and unlike dwarves have an ENORMOUS potential.

this link leads to the exact same topic lol

Also, no games with elves? Really?

What about the Elder Scrolls? Pillars of Eternity? The Witcher 3? For your consideration I compiled a short list below.

Alundra
Baldur's Gate 3
Divinity: Original Sin 2
Dragon Age: Inquisition
EverQuest
EverQuest II
Final Fantasy XI
Kingdom Rush: Origins
Lego The Lord of the Rings

eh it makes sense many people would complain about this problem, when you dive into indie games to see fresh and new things only to find the same dwarven slop all the time it can make you upset. Also those games you listed have a few elves playing a very minor role, but what the OP wanted I think are games fully centered on elves and I doubt you could find any.

Try playing Elven Legacy Collection. Also, has nobody here played Elvenar? I mean really.

and now you can understand that elves have nothing for them, I mean if your favourite race only had very old games or some sloppy mobile games I don't think you would be happy. now compare elven games to games on dwarves, vampires, goblins,...

Hmm. Point taken.

I think the reason this will never change is that for some reason people want to assume elves already have a lot and are somehow overdone while they have nothing at all. And elves fans are dead silent so developers do not see any demand.

I can only agree, I never liked dwarves that much and in many universes like warcraft, lord of the rings and others dwarves are not given a lot of attention because there isn't a lot of interesting things with them. But for some reason, or maybe because people think the majority of people love dwarves and not just a few loud and noisy fans, everybody makes games on dwarves, they are everywhere. And the worst part is that it's always the same thing, the same names, designs, characters, mechanics,... All of them barely different copy of some very boring and overdone theme.

I can't say this will come to an end either, it has been going for years, players are showing by not buying those games who all fail badly btw that they want something new and daring, yet people keep making games on dwarves... As for elves in gaming I doubt anyone would ever dare to make a game centered on elves, i feel it would be too complicated and nobody would ever attempt that, there is a limit to what you can ask people to do.
