The chat system was so cool.  And I really love Grumpy Hare and the cutscenes.  So good all around.

Thank you so much!! The chat integration was not something we could have really tested before hand so we were nervous. But so glad the it worked out as intended! Actually, much better than we expected!

Love the weird out of game mechanics your games always have, really knocked it out of the park here.

Thanks leotimer, every year we try to think more and more out of the box! This year, we really lucked out with the word "encourage" lol

You pulled off this genre/style so well! Also loved the cutscenes (great art!) & exploitable system.

Developer

Thanks, we've thought about doing a souls like since forever but it felt impossible! I'm so glad that you liked it!

Whoa! I truly thought it was a fun attempt at a souls boss that worked well - reaalllllly kicked it up a notch with the encouragevar implementation! Super clever!

Developer

Sweet! This was a real joy to work on, and we’re super proud of the final build! So honored that Chat was supportive and jumped on to cheer on Grumpy together! It was a beautiful moment for sure!

The "headless warrior" reference to the creation of the characters was funny!~

Developer

hehehe thanks for catching that! I LOVED the way Kyle designed the characters this year and it’s also one of the reasons we felt a souls like would fit so well!

Fun exploitable system! Grumpy Hare’s strong attack and dodge roll are equally cute and badass.

Developer(+1)

thank you! It was alot of fun finding the right animations for this cute little guy, glad it worked out so well in the end. Godot’s animation system really fought me too lol, had to fight back with a crazy mismatch of plugins and scripts haha

Unfortunately I missed the live stream, but the use of Twitch chat was a stroke of genius! What a great way to incorporate encouragement as a mechanic.

Developer(+1)

Aw sorry you missed it live, but it’s never too late to !encourage 😉

The souls boss mechanic landed really well, and the twitch integration on stream was a really cool idea.

Developer

Thanks! Fromsoft deserves a lot of credit, designing bosses is so hard 😂. We had a lot more planned but decided to focus on the core battle and the twitch chat moment, so glad it worked out for the best!

Using comic style cutscenes was not only a great nod that "The Warriors of Encouragevar" were suppose to be based on a webcomic, but was also just simply well executed as well. I like how Zingel movement/attacks somehow felt distinctly like a souls-like boss (though I found it hilarious that the kick goes way over Grumpy Hare's head). The twitch integration was a spectacle to see live, as you two really continue to push new 4D interactions with all of your games year after year. Lastly, are we on the moon?

Developer

Thanks Ebura-ham!!! We had alot of fun with the comics this time. And yup it’s a nod to the origins of the warriors, so glad you picked up on it :D . I haven’t drawn for the jam in soooo long and this seemed like the totally perfect time to dust off the old Apple Pencil.

And the concept was based on the Care Bears cartoon, where their town, Carealot, was on a cloud in the sky. With the Gathering Tree in the middle. So we took inspiration but pushed it way further into space to show the damage that Zingle did.

Love the interpretation of the warrior as a souls-boss!. Seeing the twitch chat intergration work live was amazing!

Developer

Thanks Nowis! So glad you loved it! So many characters were Dark Souls coded, so the hard part was picking just the one ;).
