Artistic Statement / Use of Theme
Pea's Adventure approaches climate change through a dark-whimsical lens, heavily inspired by the eerie, charming storytelling of games like Little Misfortune and Fran Bow. The game explores ecological fragility and the delicate balance of nature. The core call to action and positive solution focus on nurturing growth, shifting perspectives to heal the environment, and showing that individual actions can protect our shared ecosystem.

Development Summary
Developed as a solo project for the climate change-focused game jam. The development journey involved building a narrative-driven experience centered around Pea. Major technical challenges included troubleshooting Godot UI and pause menu layering systems. The hardest thing to cut was an extra puzzle level to keep the scope realistic for the jam timeframe.

(optional) Release Plan
Released publicly on Itch.io as a downloadable Windows desktop build.

(optional) Further Development Plan
Plans to potentially expand Pea's Adventure into a full indie release with additional levels, expanded reality-shifting mechanics, and deeper storytelling exploring ecological themes.

i think that the dialogue between the narrator and pea was a real highlight, but man that ending was grim. i don't think that it totally fit the theme of the jam, just being more generically environmentally focused rather than specifically "plant a seed", but that's ultimately less important than how it is as a game. heads up if you walk back through old rooms the dialogue starts up again, so if you're going to continue working on this project i would start by solving that first and foremost.

thank you for playing and yeah the ending was something (not really good with making happy endings) but in other cases.. I wish I could do more to this (that actually fit the theme) however I got sick during the work so yeah the story itself has a BIG lack of stuff that I couldn't do much.. But hopefully in the future I would able to do the whole chapter 1 of it!

I am big fan of Little Misfortune, and enjoyed the dynamic between the narrator and Pea when it was present. There is no onboarding in the game, and I could not get the scissors to work to get the wires off the tree. I did not know what to do after this point, and switched realities on every screen available to me. Thanks for making!
