Really great writing! You did a great job sort of trusting the audience to piece together what happened as they read. I agree with Sarah, the tone is really strong

bleak but striking imagery! the ending i got was not what i expected, but fit the tone well. I want to know more about what happened leading up to imprisonment. the climactic choice has interesting implications either way you go, definitely made me think for a bit afterwards.
