I love effects like this. I have a ton of items and other rewards from old home game homebrews with cycling effects. I think mechanics like this create a really cool tactical layer to the game that sits above all the regular stuff. I also think it was really smart to include multiple benefits at each stage so that you can continually adapt and change up what you need for your next adventure instead of getting locked into a pattern of useless benefits you don't care about. Very neat!

Fun concept here with excellent names for benefits. A seasonal title with fluctuating bonuses is a fine addition to the game, and I can see the same concept easily applied to other forces in the Timescape as well.
Others have dug into deeper critical feedback, so I'll only lightly brush on it here. Some options are clearly better or worse than others, but that can easily be fixed with another editing pass for balance. This also would add a lot more for players to consider each respite and how they plan for future ones, but I think that too can be easily adjusted for the group by a director tweaking the cycle to only change each level or mirror the seasons in world.
All in all, a solid foundation to work from and a fine submission to keep in the pocket for sparking later ideas. Good work.
Evovling titles is a neat idea! Here are some feedback I have after reading:
- Petal Dancer seems significantly stronger than the other Spring bonuses
- Heral of Dog Days' last sentence is a bit weird: "This stamina loss is but can also only be reduced by an enemy's fire immunity"
- A Change In Color is straight up less good than Budding Talent. Maybe it should give an edge on tests made with the new skill? Or give two skills instead of one?
The subtle colour changes on the text really work for me in this piece. I can easily see how I would work this in for a elf character, or one who has heavy ties to the Fey in general. I'd maybe cut/give the option to have the states linked to the season your game is in. Slower changes/fewer chances to see the abilities, but easier to track I feel.
Great work, and well on theme.
This is a really cool and creative concept! I do think it's a bit complex, so I would only give this to the more mechanically minded members of my play group. The idea of tracking which stage you're on, which benefit you've chosen, and changing that every respite seems like it would be a lot of added mental work to me. I could see myself getting used to one benefit, then forgetting I had switched off it at the next stage.
I love the names of all the benefits. "The Looming Quiet" sounds sick as hell, and works well with the mechanics.
I don't think that all the benefits of these stages necessarily have to be balanced, but it does strike me as a bit odd that some are just strictly worse than others. Like spring's "budding talent" vs autumn's "a change in color." To get a skill in autumn, you have to drop another skill and it's only in the same skill group? Sounds kind of steep. Especially when other benefits just give you static bonuses that will have huge impacts on combat.
Overall I really like the flavor, and the concept of cyclical boons is really interesting. I could see other versions themed around lawful clockwork beings, or the four elements, or phases of the moon or something.
I really like the idea of cyclical boons, I hadn't considered something like that before! Found it slightly ambiguous if the Hero gained all benefits or chose one (I've scored it like its choose one which is how I would use it) but there is still a huge amount of options for this boon which could get confusing. If I end up using this personally I'll probably split the boon into a couple different cycles to give players the choice between a couple options each season rather than 4 at each respite. Overall though I really enjoyed it! Might need to find an excuse to have the Heroes go meet some Faerie Monarchs!
