Took me awhile to figure out but the winning strategy is to always hold block, and tap w until you are almost out then wait for it to recharge to green to repeat. Not really more strategy or skill tests in the game over that. Funny visuals and sounds though.
Hi bro thanks a lot for playing and your feedback! I Agree, still has many flaws. If it were you, would you improve this one, or would you just make it new and better from scratch? I mean, a different game, not even sumo, add animation, punch kicks powers?
Yeah, the game is great, really fun! For me personally the funniest part was how narrator yell their names! I have no idea how you did it, I used TTS for my game, but, it sounds just normal. Did you use video model to make those yells?
Talking seriously if have any connection to a sumo, or martial arts in general you gotta do some rock-scissors-paper mechanic. I mean in sumo you eather push your opponent out of ring or you meke him fall. If you charge too hard, the opponent just steps to the side and you break out of the circle yourself. Also there are throws.
Maybe do something like:
Dodge beats Charge
Throw beats Dodge
Charge beats Throw
That's not final, just brainstorm. Ah also I sence you were inspired by the jams' promo image, is that so? I mean you made a whole game in weekend, I remember that.
Hello bro thanks a lot, I really appreciated your feedback.
I narrated this one haha their names got a little pitch up and the Fight one has no effect :D
I was considering doing the meows too, one different type per cat, but you're right the game was for a contest but not this one, so I had few days, I think I did make it in 2 days. But when I saw this Jam's page I was like wow this was made for Fat Cat Sumo!
I didn't know how to animate yet so they're static which I have to change.
I don't have any connection to martial arts, just some Tae Kwon Do many years ago, but your idea is very very good, rock scissor paper!
And more freedom of movements, specials, it needs a lot of stuff, I started making other games since then, I',m doing a big solitaire one, because I got the idea nobody liked this one but maybe all it needs is some serious work. As it is now, I'll be honest, I don't play it, it's boring and makes my hands burn lol so when you don't like your own game maybe something's wrong! :D
Thank you once more for the kind words, ideas and feedback, much appreciated! Have a great day bro!
its cute, i had trouble with the speed at which you needed to button mash a bit.
Hi bro thanks a lot for playing and taking the time to give feedback, really appreciate it!
I agree the demo is harder, it was to stretch the 3 enemy experience, but the full version is not as hard, just near the end.
Do you think you'd like it more if there was no mash, and just be like a normal fighting game? Jump, punch kick 'n stuff? Wouldn't be Sumo anymore but I don't think that matters maybe. Maybe the repetitive mashing and difficulty makes it lame and make you not want to play anymore, because you associate with pain instead of fun.
Thanks again bro, have a great day!
i did beat the 3 test rounds. holding space and smashing W.
the hold to charge i didnt realise till reading your comments. I tried that but the first match the other cat is rapidly blocking.
the "click in the green section" part when you run out of stamina, my current thought is to ditch the button mashing and just use that mechanic, how close you are to the center determines how hard you push or something.
Hi bro, thanks a lot for playing and taking the time to comment!
You did more than me, I couldn't beat the whole demo, my hands were on fire!
You gave me a lot to think about, thanks. I don't know what to do, change it, just do a different version, not sumo but with actual kicks and punches, 'cause now I know how to animate, and maybe keep the wheel for special powers?
I like how it's different from normal fight games now, but I personally don't play it, so I don't think I enjoy it, and that alone is maybe an indicator the button mash thing is not cool for this, and I also don't want to cause health issues like tendon problems and stuff.
The demo is much harder because there's only 3 enemies, the full version has 10 I think and the difficulty curve is more forgiving, I think I'll upload that one soon and ditch the demo, and hopefully gather more feedback then.
I really appreciate you man, thanks for the feedback! Have a great day!
Catchy song! I found a “cheat” in that you can hold space while spamming W to derma-block and tap at the same time. Look forward to seeing the full version.
Hi! It's not a cheat it's a feature, the game is hard enough as it is! Did you notice the left mouse button is what you need to hit when you spend all your stamina and the wheel shows up? if you hit it in the green target of the circle, you get some stamina. And if you hold down W key, you can charge up your push, you can decide how much stamina you want to put into that, because if the opponent is blocking at that exact time, it won't work. I could put it for sale right now, I have the full version, but do you think people would like it? Also the characters don't move while in the actual match, do you think that would be a turnoff?
Thanks a lot for playing, really appreciate it and you taking the time to comment, thanks!
Little details like arm and head movement, cartoon sweat lines, grunts, etc. would absolutely be improvements that add polish to the game for sure.
Thanks really appreciate it!
the sounds got an actual laugh out of me. click-battle sumo is dumb fun in the best way, my finger gave up before my cat did
Thank you so much! I think you're the first person in the planet to play it, at least the first who said something! Thank you very much, really appreciated it!
haha happy to be first then. left finger on the spacebar to block and right finger on the W to click like crazy isnt a convenient setup for right handler lol. good luck with it mate
