Artistic Statement / Use of Theme
Our project puts the player in the role of a bee, highlighting the importance of pollinators and the impact climate change can have on their habitats.
Through exploration and gameplay, the player discovers environmental threats and the need to protect biodiversity and natural ecosystems.
Our positive climate solution is simple: raising awareness of the crucial role pollinators play in maintaining biodiversity by stepping into the shoes of a wild bee that must pollinate native flowers while avoiding pesticides, predators, and environmental hazards.
We also offer at the end real-life solutions to help protect local ecosystems by encouraging players to plant native flowers in their gardens or on their balconies and learn about guerrilla gardening.

Development Summary
Our goal was to create a polished, beautiful 2D game that could run smoothly in web browsers. However, the limitations of WebGL forced us to make difficult compromises and find workarounds to maintain good performance, resulting in a game that was less visually and aurally polished than we originally envisioned.
Our original concept remained mostly unchanged throughout development: creating a game where the player controls a bee and explores an environment while facing different environmental dangers.
The biggest challenge was keeping the scope manageable while still making the experience feel complete and meaningful. We had to prioritize the core gameplay and simplify ideas that were too ambitious for the time available. We had the idea of choosing bees for a topic pretty fast in the developement, which allowed us to think rather fast about which gameplay and which artistic direction to choose. All throughout the production, we were really mindful of the scope, to be able to present a polished game.

I really love the art in this game, it's so beautiful and pleasing to look at! This was a simple and fun game that I played a few times before beating, and I really enjoyed it! It runs smoothly and feels very polished. Well done!

Really nice. Great flow in the controls, right amount of challenge, solid art, good messaging, instantly readable. This one stands out, I think you nailed what you set out to achieve.

Y'all smashed it. What a treat - from the onboarding to my dying to a wasp - I was constantly thinking about how tough it is for bees to do their job as modern green spaces dwindle in number and size. Especially in urban environments. Smooth mechanics, start to finish, that all correlate well, in my opinion. Thanks for making!

The game is fun. However, I really am enjoying the music. It almost reminds of one of those sad movies that had that similar sound. The gameplay is quite simple and easy to understand. I also love the art design with the 2D painted textures. Nice message that you included at the end. Great job!

Love the artstyle and the gameplay loop even though its simple is quite fun. For some reason I had a brain fart at the beginning and assumed the controls are arcade racing, took me a second to realize :D

I absolutely adored this experience and love to see work from a fellow bee team! I had such a fun time with this game and the art and music was fantastic as well. I would love to play a full version of this game and would love to see where the team takes it if you were to take it further. Amazing work!
