Below are any questions which may come up during the jam that may help clarify rules or anything else:

  • Can I use Voice Cloning of my own voice?
    • While it may be your voice, the technology is still based on Generative AI models and is not allowed.
  • There is a NO AI rule, does that mean I can't have a character in my game that is an AI?
    • If the character is not created by AI, then it's a fictional character you made, and is allowed.
  • For the 60 minute time limit, is that for a single route's play-through, or can multiple routes be included?
    • The entirety of your game's experience should be within the time limit. This includes any potential routes the developer may intend the player to experience. Games CAN go over, but there's is zero guarantee that anything past the 60 minute mark will be accurately judged by Hawk or the other official judges. Nor is there any guarantee that the game will continue to be streamed past the 60 minute mark.
  • If we cannot begin actual in-game work until the submission period begins, can I use assets I've already created?
    • Yes, using assets you legally own the rights to use is perfectly fine, even if they've been used in other projects before. The only exception is you cannot make brand new assets specifically for this jam before the submission period opens.
  • Will there be any new themes or challenges released when the jam goes live?
    • Not at this time
  • Is S.A.M Text to Speech considered AI?
    • Nope! For the purposes of this jam it is OK to use.
  • My game bugged out while I was submitting it, and now it's past the deadline. Can I get an extension?
    • Unfortunately, no. Any game not submitted by 11:59PM on October 2nd (MDT) will NOT be included in the jam. Extensions will not be given out for ANY reason. Plan accordingly.

Does the full game have to equal to an hour, all routes included? Or does just one play through of the game have to equal up to an hour and going back through the other routes through different playthrough not include to the time?

I would say the intent of the 60 minutes is to keep games in scope (and also make sure I have enough time to stream them all on my schedule) so yes, the game time is one main play through, not counting other routes. If you manage to have multiple under the time limit that's also fine! I'll add a question to the submission in case other people have the intent of the game being played multiple times for the optimal experience. As long as it all is around 60 minutes (give or take a few) is the main thing.

Are there going to be any additional themes/restrictions revealed when the jam begins?

Host

Nope!

why

Host

There's no need for extra themes or challenges at this time.

Oh yeah okay makes sense.

"You two have been doing this for 19 hours."

The theme applies only for the game’s story? Can i apply it for mechanics or scenario?

Host

Generally the theme will have a greater impact on story, but if you can find creative ways of implementing it, go for it!

this is my first time participating in a jam, I know its strange but would it be possible to submit a game entry using SCRATCH?

Host

As long as the game can be played on Windows and uploaded to Itch, I don't see why not.

Can I submit more than one game?

Host

Yes! But you can only win any given prize once.
