So I am getting to the end of the first round of playtesting for my game StarTalon.

I hired about a dozen testers on upwork, and I got some good feedback from some of them and decent estimates of playtimes per map however I got to thinking why not hire a couple of testers from itch to compare the quality. Now the way I have been doing it is paying per map beaten. $1.50 a map for the first 4 maps and $2 a map after that. The game has 12 maps in total and I have been doing it in 2 waves of 6 maps each. Most of my testers have been able to beat the first 6 maps in between 1 hour, 12 minutes to 3 hours. But most are about 1H15min-1H30 min for the first 6 maps. You would need to record videos of all attempts and split them up by map & upload to youtube.

I am paying via upwork so you would need to sign up for that, and I do need a sample video to make sure the game runs with no slowdown while you are recording video. Literally a 3-4 minute video of you playing the first map. I only need a couple of testers more for this round of testing but I will be shortlisting for the next round of testing as well, and I will want at least another 12 testers for that.

So if this sounds interesting check out this job post and send me a proposal on upwork.

Like I said, I only need a couple of new testers this round but I will need a lot for the next round of testing.

Hey! I was interested in checking out your proposal on Upwork, but unfortunately the link shows “Access is not allowed in this context,” so I wasn’t able to view it.

Since you mentioned that you’re interested in comparing the quality and approach of playtesting on itch.io versus Upwork, I’d be happy to offer my services as a comparison point! (^^)/

I specialize in UX QA and structured playtesting, so my reports go beyond simply recording gameplay: I document issues, usability observations, reproduction steps, impact/severity, and pack it all in an actionable document with feedback.

You can find my services and deliverables here on my Ko-fi page!

If you’re specifically looking to compare different testing approaches and levels of depth, I think it could make for a pretty interesting benchmark ☺️

I updated the link, should work fine now.

Willl post it again for you though. https://www.upwork.com/jobs/~022089032337059149655

Thank you! I checked the link and unfortunately I’m unable to apply through Upwork because the proposal requires 11 Connects. Since I’d have to spend Connects that I don't have to submit an application, I won’t be able to apply through the platform. I’d still be happy to participate through Ko-fi or VGen if you’re interested in comparing how testers work here on itch ☺️

Hi! I'd like to take on some testing slots for StarTalon.

I'm an indie game developer myself (4 titles shipped on Google Play under O2cool168), so I'm comfortable with structured playtesting, bug reporting, and recording/documenting gameplay clearly — I've handled QA-style work on my own titles including troubleshooting Android build issues and completing store compliance testing. I have a stable recording setup and can deliver clean video with no slowdown, happy to send the sample video first to confirm.

I'm available for a couple of slots in this round, and definitely interested in the next round of 12 testers as well if this one goes well. Let me know next steps!

Hey, could you add me on Discord? I’d like to talk with you about the game. Here’s my Discord username perfjmr3 feel free to add me, or you can send me the Discord server link if you have one
