I enjoyed the small amount that has been finished. The enemies(?) are very funny, and the mechanic where you hold E while you move and let go to teleport backwards is very interesting! I'm curious where this game goes, and I hope I can leave with my car someday.

Where I'm standing: As someone who designs narrative systems and writes interactive fiction, I look closely at how jam entries leverage limited scopes to build an immersive emotional state. HUMANZ enters the space using an immediate, moody framing—combining paranoia, social alienation, and identity questioning into a tight experience. That structural choice shapes my entire reading of the project.

Theme — 4.0 / 5.0

The game uses its unique premise to fit the constraints of the jam naturally. Rather than treating the core concept as a superficial coat of paint, the narrative framing functions as both a mental containment space and a platform for escalating tension, making the environment an active participant in the psychological spiral.

Creativity — 3.5 / 5.0

Taking familiar sci-fi/horror anxieties about identity, assimilation, and who you can trust, and translating them into a tight jam format is a solid, engaging hook. While the concept treads some familiar ground within indie horror, the execution leans into distinct character dynamics that keep it from feeling entirely routine.

Presentation — 4.0 / 5.0

Visually and aurally unified. The aesthetic fits the atmospheric horror mandate like a glove, keeping visual clutter low while preserving a moody grit. Combined with strong audio design—ambient hums, silence, and sudden acoustic cues—it does the heavy lifting to keep the player on edge.

Gameplay — 3.5 / 5.0

Mechanically direct and functional, keeping interactive friction low so the focus stays squarely on the mood. Interactions are straightforward; while they serve the narrative arc well without overstaying their welcome, the loop remains fairly linear and light on deep systemic depth.

Story — 4.0 / 5.0

Atmospheric and sharply paced. The narrative premise—dealing with questions of identity, paranoia, and the creeping dread of what surrounds you—weaves isolation and suspicion together brilliantly. It relies on implication and psychological unease to leave a distinct impression over a compressed runtime.

Horror — 4.0 / 5.0

The game excels most in its mood. By capitalizing on psychological anticipation, isolation, and the creeping realization that you can't trust your environment or the people around you, it generates genuine unease. It bypasses cheap jump scares in favor of a persistent, slow-burn state of anxiety.

Overall — 4.0 / 5.0

A tightly scoped, highly atmospheric horror entry that punches above its weight in mood and presentation. While its mechanical loop is brief, its commitment to a singular, paranoid narrative identity makes it a memorable piece of jam craft.
