Why so hard on normal difficulty?

I like the game, I really do. But I expected this to be a gooner game, and 2-3 days in, I still havent gotten a goon sesh.

Great game tho. Its just that the normal difficulty is harder than I thought. I guess that's the intended way to play the game. To think and play well. BUT for a gooner game, I just want to use minimal brain and play through the content. I guess I should have gone with the lower difficulties if I wanted that.

Still, I love the game. I started on normal and I intend to finish this all the way in normal (obviously with a lot of save scumming). Easily the best corruption mechanics I've ever seen in a corruption based game

Maybe you should try Explorer or Story mode with less savescumming and not so hard on brain? It would allow to get gooner content much easier

The game let's you lower difficulty at any time. So you don't even have to start over if the game is more challenging than what you were looking for.

The game IS difficult on normal, but money and items can make it a lot easier... and taking combat slower (one or two hard combats a day). The need for money, and time, is part of what will push you into a corruption cycle. This isn't really a gooner game, this is a solid RPG with surprisingly complex interactions with all the skills. Some zones require you to smoke bomb enemies so you can then attack them from behind, with certain spells to get tactical advantage, etc. Knowing the enemies weaknesses and attack patterns is critical.

For what it's worth, the combat difficulty is the same on Hard, just with higher cost for upgrades, and you get a lot more XP for that.  With a few Newgame+ skills the game is significantly easier. I still find the underwater section, and the final demon palace, to be TOO difficult for when you are expected to encounter them... unless there's some trick (I never use Earth Magic) to defeating the water based critters.
