With these types of games, a tutorial is... fine. It's not ideal, but whatever, right? Except that the tutorial itself seems to omit crucial information and the information it does provide is confusing (I'll omit my personal experience for the sake of simplicity)
I'm fine with doing monotonous things for a game, I even enjoyed it. I loved the atmosphere the entire time I actually started the game. Problem is that the actual gameplay loop had a bunch of waiting, the monotonous things had no depth behind them, and I hadn't actually learned enough in all my time to actually accomplish a full cycle. I fully gave up when it asked of me things I had no concept of.
