How can I even beat history?

On the full version I'm now playing as the Soviet stavka command. No matter what route I attempt, even hewing to the historical path and bleeding manpower, I get an ending slide saying I only end the war in November, for supposedly having reserved men and gone slow. Is the window to finish in May just accidentally way too narrow?
The run in which I conserved most men was also the one most ahead of schedule, not just in 'Time points' but getting the Berlin in Feburary slide sometime in 1944, already, and still supposedly finishing in November '45. (Maxing out at Time-ahead-of-schedule as Germany also doesn't feel as though one is ahead or pressing an advantage, really?)

Hey, thanks for playing! There are ways to get to Berlin ahead of 1945 as the Soviets however I have been looking at Soviet content plus your comments has made me realise there is more to do. I am working on an update with the plan to release in around a weeks time that will add some more variety around the Soviet endings and mid-game to get ahead of the historical baseline
