A very interesting concept! Caught me pretty off guard when reading the description but was fun to see in action. The games themselves were pretty simple, but I imagine they were basically just vehicles with which to show off the tech. I did try loading in one of the other sprites as a level to see what would happen, and it mostly functioned correctly, so that was interesting to see (I put in tennis-gal, and the tennis game ran mostly normally, but would have some visual errors occasionally, and the score counted into the negatives instead).
Music was pretty nice, but it would get a little maddening after it layers on top of itself whenever you go back to the start screen.
I found the way you pitched the game on the game page to be intriguing, and so, I bit.
The gameplay was mostly just fine, and I don't have a lot to say about it (other than that I think it is weird that you die by jumping up off the top of the screen in jumper).
While I enjoyed editing `main.lua` to play the different games, that isn't exactly good UX tbh tbh.
Thanks for the feedback. Of course, I could simply have included a selection option for the games in the menu, so that even a complete novice could get to grips with it. But that wasn’t my goal at all. My main concern was to create something special that might not conform to the usual format. And the fact that you have to open the source code to select the other games is intended to help you better understand what’s actually going on. That’s exactly the user experience I wanted.
Fair, what can I say? You obviously reeled me in, so you are accomplishing something.
That is some super original idea to bundle games as images. Unfortunately the 3 mentioned games in the game description, snake.png, tennis.png and jumper.png are too basic to properly judge anything.
I assume there are more games there as .png files, but I didn’t test.
I’m really sorry that I can’t meet your gaming standards for 2026. Still, I’m just absolutely delighted that anyone managed to get all three games up and running at all. That’s more than I’d hoped for.
Sorry if I sounded harsh. You usually work on visual novels, right? I think the visual novel demos for this engine would have worked well.
No, I don’t think much of visual novels at all. In my view, they’re more like picture books than games.
This was the very first time I’d ever used the Löve game engine and the game isn’t a serious submission at all.
But please don’t take what I say too seriously. If you have a look at the other entries I’ve got on my page, you’ll soon get a sense of the sort of projects I tend to work on.
Agree with virtual mussel that the game coded via images is cool. The game itself could use some polish, as the background music kept playing over itself on every retry.
Really? I thought I’d fixed that bug ages ago. Well, before that, the game used to crash after the ‘Game Over’ screen, so the music bug wasn’t an issue for a long time^^
I think, the mere concept of game coded via images is cool! However, the game(s) itself was not so magical in core. A creative project that could be more visually polished in my opinion
At first, I only had little boxes. From the first prototype to now, the graphics have really improved enormously.
