Night Shift: The House — Help Shape a Chat-Controlled Horror Game

Hey everyone,

I’m currently working on Night Shift: The House, a horror game being designed around live audience interaction.

The idea is that during playtest streams, chat will help control the survivor and make decisions in real time — where to go, what rooms to search, what items to keep, when to barricade, when to hide, and whether to risk pushing deeper into the house.

But there’s another problem.

Night Shift is watching.

As fear builds, Night Shift can interfere with the game and even the stream itself — corrupting the UI, stealing items from inventory, changing the rules, and making survival harder for everyone.

The game is still early in development, and I want the community to have a real influence on where it goes.

I’d love suggestions for things like enemy ideas, items, rooms, scares, chat commands, Night Shift abilities, survival mechanics, challenges, and anything else you think would make the game more fun or terrifying to play live.

If that sounds interesting, join the Discord and help shape Night Shift: The House as it develops. I’ll be sharing progress, asking for feedback, testing ideas, and eventually running live community playtests where chat gets to see whether their ideas actually help everyone survive.

💀 What would you add to the house?

This is what I got done so far

## How Much Should I Let the Monster Mess With Chat?

I'm working on **Night Shift: The House**, a horror game where the streamer controls one survivor while **chat collectively controls another**.

I've got the basic chat controls working, and now I'm building the part I'm most excited about:

**Night Shift interfering with the players.**

Right now I'm testing the idea that Night Shift can steal an item directly out of chat's inventory.

I'm trying to decide what ability I should build next:

**A — Blackout**

Night Shift kills the lights in the room chat is currently exploring.

**B — Locked In**

Night Shift temporarily locks the doors around the chat-controlled survivor.

**C — False Command**

Night Shift corrupts the UI and makes one of chat's commands display incorrectly.

**D — Inventory Thief**

Night Shift reaches into the inventory and steals one of chat's items.

Which one would create the best panic without becoming annoying?

**A, B, C, or D?**

I'm leaning toward D, but I'm curious what other horror players/devs would pick.

I made a new enemy for Night Shift: The House — my chat-controlled horror game where viewers help decide what happens next.

This thing is going to be stalking the house, hunting the player, and making every vote matter.

What should I call him? Drop a name in the comments. 👇

Live Dev Stream Today at 5:00 PM

I’m continuing development on Night Shift: The House, my viewer-interactive horror game, and today’s stream is focused on character animation.

I’ll be working on new animations for the zombie and Chat’s character, testing how they feel in-game, and taking suggestions live while I work.

If you’ve been following the project, this is a good chance to actually help influence what gets added.

During the stream:

🧟 Suggest zombie reactions, attacks, movement, and other animation ideas 🎮 Suggest animations for Chat’s character 💬 Give feedback while I test everything 🔨 Watch the animations go from idea to implementation

I’m starting today at 5:00 PM.

If there’s an animation you want to see in Night Shift: The House, come drop the idea in chat.

Your suggestion might end up in the game.
