Hey! With FQ9 ending soon, I wanted to let you know that I won't be able to cover your game until after the event. If you're okay with waiting, just keep the game on the event and I'll be getting around to it over the next couple of months or so. :)
A Gay Love Story About Gay Love...
I know where the Oliver is. It is here.
I intentionally limited this session to around five to ten minutes so I could cover more jam entries and give more developers feedback. A visual novel obviously needs more time for a fair assessment of its characters and narrative, so this is focused on the opening presentation, UI, onboarding, and immediate hook.
The itch page is fantastic and immediately feels unique. I love the artwork, backgrounds, and overall visual direction, which remind me a little of Don’t Starve without feeling like a copy. The dialogue boxes are more elaborate than I would normally prefer, but they fit this game perfectly and feel like a natural extension of the artwork instead of decoration slapped on top. It is weird, charming, slightly unsettling, and honestly very endearing.
I understand the light tone you seem to be targeting with the opening song, especially if it is meant to create contrast with what comes later, but the specific track did not feel like the right fit to me. The onboarding also asks for too much confirmation around the game-mode selection, and the amount of disclaimer text started slowing down an otherwise strong opening. I would trust the player a little more, let them confirm the mode once, and consolidate the important warnings into one cleaner screen.
The story as well as the characters, are intriguing enough to spark curiosity.
I cannot fairly judge the larger narrative from such a short session, but the presentation absolutely made me want to see more. This is something I would genuinely come back and continue playing when I have enough time to properly get into it. Great job, keep going.
If you have two minutes and room for one more strange little snack, try BEAT BAES and tell me where it tastes wrong.

Off the bat, the game aesthetic is gorgeous. I am very much drawn to the art style and the characters appearances. The mechanics of the game are also very nice, reminds me heavily of the papa's game series, a very big hit of nostalgia for me.
I did have two issues with UI stuff on browsers (The game did not wish to capture on OBS normally without full display capture). One is starting the actual potion brewing game, I will chalk it up to user error as I assumed to click the eye instead of underneath it so I feel like it's more me. Second one was with saving, it did not let me leave that menu, it just kept saving. Partially why I exited it early which I don't think was fair of me. It did eventually let me leave when I kept spam clicking out of the save bar itself.
Also, this is 100% personal, but some of the dialog felt kind of weird? To me at least. Like the remarks of "Real Polite... Especially for a guy" and "Fuck Yeah/Hell No". Makes the tone a bit weird off rip, but knowing what happens later on maybe it's intentional? Just a me thing though.
But I did only play it essentially for one game day so with a grain of salt in my words. I am sure some of this is user error and a lot of it is personal preference. But overall, despite it being limited time of gaming, I did still really enjoy it. The characters are vibrant and personalities are easily identifiable by their appearance. They are very aesthetically pleasing to look at and tone is very much in place. The gameplay is nostalgic and I do like the DBD type skill checks.
I am curious though, besides endless mode what else do you plan on expanding upon? It does seem like a complete game so I wish to know what you have in store.
