How did you choose to implement the Theme: Haunted Penthouse in your game?
The story takes place entirely inside an old, eerie apartment building. Players must explore the dark and haunted rooms, solving puzzles to search for the protagonist's missing sister while uncovering the supernatural mysteries hidden within the penthouse.

Did you implement any of the optional Bonus Challenges, and if so, which ones?
I implemented Challenge #2: Hidden Elevator. At the very end of this DEMO, the protagonist discovers and uses the elevator as a dramatic cliffhanger leading to the ending, perfectly setting up the mystery for the full game.

Which game engine did you use to create your game?

RPG Maker

Does your game contain AI-generated assets?

Yes

This game has really great potential! Liked the puzzles a lot!

Just out of curiosity, which parts of the game use  AI-generated assets?

I'd advise you replace them with non-AI generated assets for the full version of the game, a lot of people avoid games with AI-generated assets just on principle.

As for the softlock issue, maybe just don't allow players to go through the crack until they find the two pieces of paper they need? Have the protagonist think to herself about how she still needs to look around some more or something like that.

Other than that, great work!

Thank you so much for playing the game and for your valuable feedback! I’m thrilled to hear that you enjoyed the puzzles and see great potential in it.

To answer your question about AI, I primarily use it for English translation. For the plugins, some available options online were too complex, so I asked AI to write simple, custom plugins from scratch to make the development process easier for myself.
As for the assets, I didn't use AI to generate images from scratch for characters. I took the original face/expression sprites included with RPG Maker MZ and used a mix of AI and my own manual edits to create the alternative expressions. For the title screen background images, I used a mix of both—some are AI-generated, and some are created by myself. That said, I really appreciate your advice regarding the community's perspective on AI assets, and I will keep that in mind as I move forward with the full version.

Regarding the softlock issue, you are spot on! I will be fixing this in the next update. I plan to either lock the crack until both pieces of paper are collected, or add more hints and dialogue to guide the player so they know exactly what they need to look for (or perhaps do both).

Thank you once again for your support and for helping me make the game better!

The puzzles in this game are pretty good; it reminds me of Ao Oni.

I was enjoying it until I got softlocked at the elevator part, just outside. I searched everywhere and used all the items and got no feedback and I cannot return through the crack in the wall so I assuming I missed something that I needed to progress the game?

Developer

"Thanks for playing! Actually, that area is a one-way trip—once you pass through the crack in the wall, you can't go back.

To progress, you need to find 2 paper scraps BEFORE entering the wall crack. Then, you will find the last paper scrap in the elevator area to open it. Hope this helps!"

Yeah that does help but it means if the player only has the one paper scrap (like I did) then they are essentially softlocked when they pass through the crack.

On the bright side now I know the answers to the puzzles I figured earlier then a New game won't take me long to get back there.

Developer

Thanks for understanding! You make a really good point about the softlock risk.
I'll consider making some adjustments in a future update so other players won't get stuck like this.
Thank you so much for your feedback and for being willing to try a New Game!
