I accidentally finished the run because I wasn't reading, I'm not sure but I guess after becoming champions of the realm you have to choose between closing the guild or keep playing? anyways, here are my stats:

# The Saga of The Wormgods: Crowned at Last

*A true story from Dungeons & Dynasties. Every event below emerged from the simulation itself over 6 years. Nothing was scripted.*

*Of Roveheath, in The Cindermoor.*

*Kept under the terms of Ironman.*

## Before the Charter

*The realm the hall opened its doors into.*

**The Cindermoor**

- **41 years before:** The archives of the Cindermoor were lost in a single night, and a century of the realm went with them.

- **27 years before:** What was lost in the Cindermoor was raised again, on the old foundations, by kin who remembered why.

**Elsewhere in the realm**

- **37 years before:** Fighting reached the Ashgate, which every map of the age had marked as safe ground.

- **28 years before:** Two halls in the Ironhold Deeps turned on each other mid-war, and both were struck from the rolls for it.

- **17 years before:** A hold in the Ashen Marches held from one Greentide to the next against worse odds than anyone had survived before, and its walls show it still.

**6 years in the pyramid. 1 crown lifted. 12 lost to the dark.**

> Heroes die. Dynasties rise. The realm remembers both. Played out by **Dungeons & Dynasties**.

## The Story

The Wormgods spent 6 years proving a nobody guild could be crowned. A guild forged in feuds and relentless loss. From The Frontier they rose as high as The Grand Circle, crowned Champions of the Realm once. 12 heroes lost to the dark, and still the guild pressed on. This is the story of a climb that ended in a crown.

## The Dynasty

The Wormgods started where everyone starts, at the bottom of The Frontier, and nobody expected much. They only ever went one way, and 3 promotions is the proof of it. They reached the top in Year 6, and the realm crowned them. The hall was gutted in Year 6, 4 names gone at once. They closed the book on their own terms, The Wormgods at Renowned-stature guild · renown 578 (Mythic) · hall L3, and sealed it there.

## The Peaks

- **Greatest Hero:** Redmane the Ravener (dps), Lv14, rated 83.

- **Darkest Day:** Year 6, when 4 heroes did not return.

## The Chronicle

### Years 1–5

**Year 1.** The middle of The Frontier is a quiet place to spend a year (7th, 6-0-5).

2 did not come home, chief among them Joran Westbrook (Lv2 tank).

> *"The shield held. The Guardian did not."*

SYNERGY DISCOVERED, You Shall Not Pass! Three shields set in a line and one pair of hands behind them. Whatever is coming can stop where it stands. (+3% mitigation · +10% healing · +5% party damage).

The Borderland Strike, in The Ashen Marches: 2 marched, the coalition was pushed back.

A relic emerges from the dark: Hide of Ravenclaw the Undying (Mythic), and it will change whoever bears it. A find the hall will remember.

Sael took Vetch under their wing.

Rest has steadied Sael Shadowmaw; the Superstitious has faded.

Something settled between Vetch and Lintel in the dark, and it held.

Perrin Carrow carried the standard.

**Year 2.** A golden year: they swept The Frontier (11-0-0) to take the division title and go up.

2 musters in The Riven Peaks and The Ashen Marches: the coalition held once, it was pushed back once.

SYNERGY DISCOVERED, Storm and Cinder! A Warden opens the pack up and an Arcanist drops fire into the gap. Neither of them is aiming at anyone in particular. (+7% party damage).

The name Watch of the Grim Spire is said through gritted teeth around the hall now.

Something is rotten in the party, Sael, Joran, Silaqui, Perrin & Berrian are all feuding at once.

Whatever Faenor and Wraithsnow were to each other, the dark took it. They are barely speaking.

The party plundered an echoing tomb, rattled but richer.

Redmane the Ravener carried more than their share, and never said so.

**Year 3.** Champions of The Free Companies (10-1-0). The hall did not sleep for days after.

2 did not come home, chief among them Vetch Fiddlebrook (Lv3 tank).

> *"The guild still speaks their name."*

2 musters in The Pale Reach and The Cindermoor: the coalition held twice.

The Highsun Tourney champions (Alexi Hollowmoon).

The Greentide Revels champions (Wraithsnow the Wrath).

Watch of the Grim Spire have your measure, and the hall is beginning to resent them for it.

Ivellios Halcyra put themselves between Silaqui and the dark, and both walked out.

Ivellios has taken to shadowing Joran everywhere. Joran pretends not to notice.

Arkhosian and Redmane came home laughing at something nobody else understood.

Wraithsnow the Wrath never had a quiet season.

**Year 4.** They won The Iron Circle (9-1-1), and they won it going away.

The dark kept one of their own, Ivellios Halcyra (Lv4 healer).

> *"Carried a party out of the deep on their back. Nobody carried them."*

2 musters in The Cindermoor and The Ironhold Deeps: the coalition held twice.

The Greentide Revels champions (Redmane the Ravener).

It is starting to feel personal with Watch of the Grim Spire. They are always a place above you.

Lintel and Prue had to be pulled apart at the gate.

The party laid a lost band to rest in the dark, and grew closer for it.

4 synergies paid off, the party fought as one (+129g).

Wraithsnow the Wrath steadied the line whenever it wavered.

**Year 5.** They held their place in The Grand Circle and little else (9th, 4-3-4).

3 did not come home, chief among them Quiet Grimveil (Lv6 dps).

> *"They were always going to end somewhere warm."*

The Greentide Revels champions (Redmane the Ravener).

SYNERGY DISCOVERED, Thoughts and Prayers! One shield and three sets of folded hands. Nobody is dying today, though nobody is killing much either. (+10% party damage).

The Siege of Kar Doom, in The Cindermoor: 3 marched, the coalition TRIUMPHED.

The name Watch of the Grim Spire is said through gritted teeth around the hall now.

Rest has steadied Silaqui Glimmerdusk; the Shaken has faded.

Where Joran goes in the dark, Alexi follows now, and it is doing them good.

Something settled between Gerard and Arkhosian in the dark, and it held.

It was Wendell Hawley's year, and everyone knew it.

### Year 6

**Year 6.** They finished 7th in The Grand Circle (7-2-2), neither climbing nor falling.

4 did not come home, chief among them Edith Holloway (Lv4 dps).

> *"Marched to The Borderland Strike. Marched no further."*

SYNERGY DISCOVERED, Warsong! A Bard's war-song drives the assault, the attackers fight with quickened blood. (+6% party damage).

The Borderland Strike, in The Cindermoor: 3 marched, the coalition TRIUMPHED; 1 did not return.

CHAMPIONS OF THE REALM! You won the Year 6 Crucible, the realm bows.

A NEMESIS rises, Watch of the Grim Spire have tormented you one season too many. This is a blood feud now. Climb above them in the pyramid to settle the score.

Whatever it is, Rhogga, Arkhosian, Ursel, Quentin & Wendell have it, and the delves are showing it.

◆ The party recovered Fine Sealskin Greaves (rare) from the depths, it waits in the armoury.

Rhogga the Stonefisted comes home Shaken; the dark left its mark.

If the year had a face, it was Wendell Hawley's.

## The Ledger Laid Down

The Wormgods did not just rise, they reigned, and the realm will not forget it.

*Every word of this was produced by the simulation itself, no scripts, no authored story, just its systems colliding over 6 years.*

Developer

Thank you so much for playing!

What was your thoughts both the Good & the Bad.

(1 edit)

I'm a very recent fan of the genre, having only ever played FM26, really, but with the little experience I have, I can still tell this game is pretty fun. Not only that, but the level of quality-of-life implementation is far more advanced than I would expect from an indie game at this stage of development (being able to simulate anything from a single dungeon run to an entire season is soooo good, and not even the FM series is able to convey that so smoothly). I simply love how quickly you can get into the game or even speed through a run, and with most micromanagement being somewhat optional, the game really does have a very nice, fast-paced rhythm to it.

I should also add that I only found your game because I was thinking of developing my own football manager in a medieval fantasy setting, but decided to check if anyone had done it before since I wasn't sure the concept would work (luckily for me, I found you, and to be honest, I'm a bit surprised this is the only game I found that truly meets the criteria). Anyways, I'm saying this because I think the biggest flaw in this game might be a design problem I was having myself: in football management games, even if there isn't any match engine, the player can still imagine what is going on on the field and therefore the 'fantasy' works. For example:

  • If you have a great young winger, you know from real-life football experience that you might have hit a jackpot and must develop him in order to cash out in the future. This works because even if there was no 'in-detail simulation', we know what wingers are and their value. But in a completely fictional world and 'sport' (dungeon crawling), the same scenario cannot be easily imagined or comprehended by the player.
  • Picture this: Whenever the player starts to underperform, who does he blame? If no goals are scored, you might change the CF, but in this medieval game, whenever my party looses the tournament I have to find the culprits between blademasters, wizards, and many other classes/races that are hard to picture since they have little connection with real-life types. It is still a totally doable concept, but requires a lot more detailed simulation with more complex visuals in order to convey the same ideas.
  • my conclusion is: FM can have a 2D game view with very little information and I can still tell what is going on, but I can't say the same approach works so well for a medieval fantasy. I would rather see more of the action rather than minimalistic 'Agar.io'-like sprites.

All that said, I think the game is solid as is, even if it probably doesn't have the same staying power as other games in the genre, at least not in its current state. More detailed sprites that actually show what the characters look like and simple animations for different actions would be great, though it might be out of the scope of this project, which I totally understand.

This is as much of a review as my own considerations for why I gave up or at least postponed the development of my own game, I'm sorry if it's frustrating, but that's only because I got frustrated working on this idea myself, on the other hand, your game is, like I said, fun and very solid, and I totally recommend it to other fans of the genre.

Developer

Firstly thank you so much for this feedback!

I fully respect and appreciate what you are saying here and the development of the game going forward and where it will end up requires feedback such as this to know where and which ways to improve it needs to follow, so it's not frustrating in the slightest it's really appreciated and during early access I'll see what I can do to evolve the game whilst keeping the same amount of fun, solidness and rhythm.

Thanks a lot for responding, I wish everything works out for your project, like I said, I liked it a lot!

waaaaaw u so cool pireco
