This is kinda cheating but idgaf cause it's real fun, honest criticism though since I allow myself to give it once I really like a game:
1) Mom is not great, execellent coneptualy and even many times in practice yet... not great. Her AI was completely unpredictable like 50% of the time, sure when I caught it lacking even when I shouldn't have it felt satysfying, but I ended up not finishing the game because of countless times where she just teleported behind me and killed me damn near instantly. I assume you already limited her teleportation to being in front of the player or something along those lines, but the players movement in this game is so eratic, you're bound to end up with the player running away, thinking "she's gonna teleport now" and then turning around after she'd already teleported in some other room and getting absoloutely pounded from behind. it would be hellish and damn near impossible to implement a fair teleportation mechanic for this game, yet with some serious creativity I think you could do it, I'd recommend experimenting with the idea for at least a bit since it would make this excellent, very fun experience even more fun & excellent.
2) specificaly taking this game jam into mind I'm not sure about the fragmented story theme implementation, I found it a little mediocre since the first recording really tells you all you need to know about the main guys story, I did like though how yo could slowly put together the (sorta) story of this world through the radio/podcast/whatever music thing is in the background the entire time.
Other than all that this game is real fun, it has excellent music, hilarious lines and batshit insane visuals and I really really liked it, would definetely pay to play a more polished full game of this.
Hey, I REALLY, REALLY appreciate your comment. Thanks for taking the time to write such a throughout feedback. I think you are really onto something with the MOM as I too felt like it also needs some major work regarding the overall balance. I am %100 gonna look at it again with ur feedbacks and update it soon. It's super important that she needs to be fun (and of course, fair) in the end. So glad u enjoyed the rest, peace!! 🤙
Thank you,
I gotta say, I looked around and it took some serious effort just finding promotional material for the game, if you'd be interested I'd be happy to help with or even manage some FREE (guerilla) ADVERTISING! I'd rather talk about why I'm willing and even happy to do that (other than the fact that I seriously just loved the demo) in private.
If you're at all interested, my discord handle is: chikis-me (or chikisme im not sure)
feel free to send a friend request my way
Just sent you a friend request! Here's the link for the game's server: https://discord.gg/VgN9UTb8F
Requalified. Nothing in the rules against using pre-existing assets you legally own OR a demo (both are expressly allowed), and going off the dev's word this was all made in the timeframe for the jam.
Much appreciated man, enjoy the game.
There is some heavy doubt this game was made within three days of the submission period start to this level of polish.
This is actually a very quick newly done demo scene - still updating it frequently as i catch bugs to this day, but uses some of the mechanics i've done from the full game (that one took hella time and has broader mechanics with a different setting ).
Bruuuh. I literally got kicked out. Anyway, this absurdly short - period jam made me finish my demo on time so thanks, I guess?? LMAO.
So, was the main game worked on before the start of September and you just made a demo? Or did you begin everything on Sept 1st?
"So, was the main game worked on before the start of September and you just made a demo? " yea pretty much this.
The demo is set in an entirely different setting and uses some (not all) mechanics of the main game. It's basically a prologue, just tells the story right before the main game.
So other than graphical assets, you made the demo from scratch, starting on the 1st of September?
Yea and I uploaded the first build on Sept 4th to my itch page.
