Nice concept. I enjoyed the game. One thing I did not understand was I'm answering for those other two people? I was thinking there will be three of use yet I don't see my health. I might be missing something.

Cool game, would love a bit more polish, especially with the UX, or a skip button for the text that the line appears instant bc i red faster than the text appeared xD, If it’s your first game good job <3

Congratz on your first game! The narration and the vibe was well done! Apart from that, the style of the art can be more in sync and also looking up on juicing your game even if the entire game was narrative and clicking on button! Adding a return to main menu or play again button after the credits would be nice.

Your first game! Congratulations! Idk if you know this, but this jam had something like 17,000 sign ups and only 2200 submissions. So that right there makes you a top 10% dev! You literally beat almost 15,000 people who didn't have what it takes to follow through. That alone will take you far.

Onto the review!

Here's the good.

  • Theme/Narrative. You've got a great sense of atmosphere. You set  a scene well. I felt deeply pulled in reading the story alongside the piano track.
  • You built characters. You had multiple endings. Clearly you are a gamer and can see what gamers like.
  • I say this again because its that important. You finished. You submitted. No matter what be proud of that. You're among the few who completed the jam and have what it takes to have an idea and see it through to the finish line. That alone makes you a true dev.

Here's the critique. Not bad. This is blunt for improvement purposes.

  • Gameplay - this is your first game I won't spend much time here because you were smart to keep the scope simple and small to ensure you completed it. Its a trivia game. The narrative was on point, but it reminded me of that ProZD skit where the cutscene doesn't match the gameplay and it goes from an emotional story arc to like, Bejeweled lol.
  • Art - Again, first game. No shade. I think this was mostly art assets and they didn't really mesh well. Seemed more like a magazine collage than a cohesive vision. For your next jam, check out the itch.io asset store. There are tons of literally FREE bundles you can use for art assets to make sure everything is cohesive.
  • Game Design - I wasn't entirely sure when trust no one  should be selected, sometimes both of them didn't know the answer and I'd decide to side with one because i helped the other the round before, and their bar would decrease because they were wrong. I thought my decision helped whoever no matter what.
  • UI/Polish - Feedback is CRAZY important for games. You want a player to literally feel your game. A button should change when hovered, move when clicked, have a sound. The only interactable in the game was the button selection. But even buttons can seem professional. Here's a great asset you can use if you use Godot that explains juice REALLY well - and even has sample code you can play with. I turn to it all the time. https://qaqelol.itch.io/tweens

Final note.

You did great man. Be proud of yourself. Even Da Vinci drew stick figures before the Mona Lisa.
