Looking for an Artist/Animator to Collaborate on a Bug-Gathering Game

Hey everyone!

I'm a college engineering student currently working on a small Roblox game centered around collecting/gathering bugs, and I'm looking for someone who might be interested in collaborating on the visual side of the project.

I'm handling the programming and have already built the core bug-gathering system and some of the underlying mechanics. However, I'm not very experienced with creating models, sprites, animations, or other visual assets, so that's where I'm hoping to find someone who enjoys that side of development.

The basic concept is a bug-collecting game where players explore an environment and find different bugs to add to their collection.

The core gathering system is already being developed, so this isn't just an idea on paper. I'm currently working on getting the basic systems functioning before moving into the more visually intensive stages.

It's intentionally a relatively small project. However making money to improve the game would def be good later on. I'm trying to create a game that's actually fun to play and has creative gameplay loops that keep the player engaged and optimize engagement and entertainment rather than brainless grinding.

I'm mainly looking for someone who enjoys things like:

  • Bug/creature modeling

  • Texturing

  • Animations

  • Character/creature rigs

  • Environment/prop assets

  • Visual effects

  • General visual/art direction

You don't need to know all of these. If you're particularly good at Blender, Roblox modeling, animation, 2D art, etc., I'd still love to hear from you.

I'm also open to working with someone who's relatively new to game development and wants a project to practice on or add to their portfolio.

I'm handling the programming and technical side of the game, including the core bug-gathering mechanics and systems.

I'm also learning as I go, so this would be a genuine collaboration rather than me expecting someone to just make assets from a list.

I'd actually like the artist to have input on the visual style and creature designs rather than simply telling them exactly what to make.

This is currently a hobby project, so I can't offer a normal salary.

I'm mainly looking for someone who's interested in making a game together. If the game eventually becomes something that makes money, I'm open to discussing a revenue-share arrangement depending on how involved we become.

There is also no expectation of full-time work. This is something we're doing in our spare time.

The project is still relatively early, which I think is actually a good time to find someone.

The core bug-gathering system is being built, and I'm working toward the point where we can start replacing placeholder/basic assets with actual models, animations, and a cohesive visual style.

I'd rather find someone who is interested before I get too far into the art side so we can figure out the direction together and also so I don't start making models and stuff that look like junk and end up wasting time 😭

If this sounds like something you'd be interested in, feel free to comment or DM me!

I'd love to see:

  • Examples of your work

  • What you specialize in

  • What software/tools you use

  • Your experience with Roblox/game development

  • What part of the project you'd be interested in helping with

You don't have to be a professional. If you like modeling bugs, making animations, creating environments, or just want to learn while working on a real project, I'd be happy to talk.

I can also show you the current build and explain what I've been working on.
