Retrogame

Retrodama is English draughts on an 8×8 board with one addition: instead of moving, a piece can travel to an earlier board on the same square, if that square is empty. It disappears from the board it left and lands in the past one, which becomes the head of a new timeline. From then on you play both, and your turn ends only once you have moved on every line where it is your move.

Same vertigo as 5D Chess with a tenth of the rules: two piece types, no check, no draws. If nobody has taken a piece for 40 turns, whoever holds more material wins.

The engine runs on the server: it works out your legal moves and calls the end of the game, so you are never left wondering whether you are already lost. Four bot levels, a tutorial made of puzzles instead of walls of text, a weekly leaderboard for results against the bot, thirteen languages.
