How does the game fit the theme?
In japanese the word pronounced "TEN" means heaven, or divine realm. This game is about a monk, banned from his community and trying to reach the "TEN". To progress up to the heaven, he will have to LEVEL UP his spoken words.

Really cool idea! This interpretation of "TEN" is hilarious.

The look and sound of "speaking attacks" is also great, definitely would love to see a version with more spells/bosses.

I got mouthy with god and got put in my place. That gave me a laugh haha. But then I got the other endings and still got put in my place. Good metaphor for religion haha, there is no winning. (Is there a fourth ending where you don't get cooked?)

Words as spells is a cool concept for a game. As one other person mentioned, spell combinations would be a really fun future implementation.
Thanks for the submission!

Thanks for your message! We did not took time to add a special ending, but that's definitely a good idea :) . Yes, more words options/combinations would be interesting. At the beginning we also thought about the possibility to unlock new words, with more gameplay possibilties. But with limited time we focused on developing 3 "basic" ones

I love the concept. It reminds me of The Binding of Isaac hahaha. I think you can use better keys for the attacks, like SPACE, E and Q for improve the gameplay, but in general it's pretty good. :D

Thank you for your message! Yes we got inspiration from The Binding of Isaac :)

Really cool concept that I think could be expanded in really interesting ways like combining world / spells to make new ones :)

The design of using words as a ranged weapon is close to me - thank you for making a game based around it.

One minor error - "to go up to the TEN, heaven" <== TENth heaven

I think it would be better to make the books for levelling up appear where the enemies are falling. It seems to me that right now their placement is predetermined and the visibility is switched when the enemies of the level are cleared. Is that correct? It may be easy for the player to miss seeing when they appear. Or alternatively, maybe if you add some visual effect when they appear it would be easier to see them?

After the jam, you may consider making the ranged attacks controlled with the mouse - it results in more satisfying gameplay.

Good luck!

Fun concept! I really hoped I could get another level by talking to the end character! Nice job! I think freeze is a little underpowered right now, especially when you get to upgrade the explosion a lot

translated with Google Translate: The game is quite fun, especially the audio and the way Buddha takes you out like Superman. You should improve the visual consistency, as some elements don’t quite fit the setting, and you could also incorporate more animations. The particle effects really help with the game’s feedback, but they could be better integrated into the environment. Finally, for PC games that don’t use the mouse, the standard control scheme usually involves moving with the arrow keys and performing actions using “Z,” “X,” “Shift,” etc.

I like the overall theme of game! Plus the zen bg music has made it great! I just felt the button click sound a bit unpleasant and annoying to my ears!
please try my game as well!
