Animated Still Needed!

Hi People,

I need somebody to create a still...or slightly animated still (is that even a thing?) for a short movie I'm making. I'm thinking a still in the vein of Ace Combat 4 and the way that game presented its narrative. As I said, I'm creating a short movie/ mood piece for pitching and competitions and filming the exact - perhaps 10-20 seconds - of work exactly the way I want, with the features I want, is not feasible right now, so I've decided to go down this animated route. Where we can make it look just like I imagined it for my scene. Rather than having to trapse around a city only to never find exactly what I want.

Just like in the Ace Combats stills, I would like this still to have a camera pan and lighting effects. I could do this via AI I suppose, but I don’t like the results. My work is the work of an amateur working in his spare time, I'm not looking for perfection and in fact, would rather the work have the look of, like me, an amateur or enthusiast working around other commitments; so no AI.

I will provide a modified production version of my screenplay with the required scene and any additional info you need on setting, tone etc. And getting a feel for the Ace Combat 4 cutscenes is required.

No money involved in this project (in fact it actually costs ☹ ), but of course you will be on the credits! And it will be another piece of work to add to our portfolios. And if it wins anything, our names will be pinned to it! After all, the film 12 Monkeys was based on a French short movie in black and white that featured no footage, only a series of stills/photos with voice over narration.

After I’m done with this, I am planning to begin work on a point and click adventure where I really want to use stills again and will need other animation work! I’m primarily a writer, so will need coders, sound people and artists. So perhaps we can work together for that as well.

Please leave me an email if you are intrested.

Kind regards,

 The Clear Air Turbulence

Hi,

I’m interested in helping with this project. I’m a 3D artist experienced in creating environments, characters, props, and cinematic assets, as well as setting up lighting and simple camera animations.

The Ace Combat 4-style presentation sounds particularly interesting. I understand that you’re looking for something that feels like an atmospheric cinematic still rather than a fully animated sequence, with subtle camera movement, lighting effects, and composition carrying the scene.

I also appreciate that you’re aiming for an artistic, handmade feel rather than an AI-generated result. I’d be happy to work from your screenplay, references, and scene requirements to build something that matches the mood you have in mind.

Although this is an unpaid project, I’d be interested in discussing the scope and seeing whether my style would fit what you’re looking for. The potential future point-and-click project also sounds interesting.

If you’re still looking for an artist, feel free to message me and I can show you some of my previous work.

Hi Holami,

Did you have a look at the AC stills cut scenes yet? Because that’s really what I want to go for. Of course make it your own, but that’s the relative style. No pixel art or overly cartoony manga. Just like those stills from AC, I’d rather have Seinen style, (Akira, Ghost in the Shell, Gundam etc.) if its going to be manga that is. Please also see, Hotel Dusk: Room 215. That's also the sort of style, animation and stills I'm going for.

If you want, I can send you the necessary scene, needed info and the mock up I developed via AI so you can begin? I actually may also need a screen of the interior based on the Elliot Bay Cafe in Seattle as a thematic reference and the excerpts from my screenplay as a further reference.

I'm not sure how you colour grade animation or anything like that, that's why I need you :D But my footage and the film will be using Rec709. So could you draw it in that format? Or I think for you guys and the programs you use, like Clipart etc., its called sRBG??? That colour space is what I need for baseline colour grading once I stick it into the film so that there is a consistent look. :}

Perhaps needless to say,  but please no AI. We are amateurs developing our skills whilst working around the rest of life, it’s fine if it looks amateurish. It’s pure and the people who view it will hopefully see it for that!
