How does your game meet GBJam's theme
The Weight of Gold takes the concept of "Old Gold" quite literally . We dived into one of the oldest and most classic stories about gold in western history: the myth of Midas and his golden touch.
In our game, the Old Gold is not simply a reward, but a core mechanic as well. Our protagonist, Midas, has the power to turn everything he touches into solid gold, due to his ancient curse.
The Golden Medallion that Midas must return to the temple is a double-edged sword: his greatest power and his horrible curse.

I like the graphics, the music, and the idea of this platformer game. But like the others, I died within just a few seconds. The controls also felt a little bit glitchy. The punch doesn't work. I think I will wait for improvements

The intro cutscene is truly beautiful. I didn't really understand the gameplay and always died few seconds in, but I get it this is not intended, so I will be waiting for fixed version after the jam!

Beautiful art, the temple on the cliff and the midas cutscenes look straight off a real cartridge. and making the golden touch your weapon while a starvation timer ticks down is a clever way to turn the myth into a mechanic. nice job

nevermind, i saw the downloadable and link part

Gorgeous palette! With beautiful art, despite some seemingly being too charged for gbstudio to handle x)

Didn't really understand the platforming part, but I hope you'll get to fix it :D Hope you had fun making it at least!

haha yes loads of fun! Thank you for the feedback!

We have gained some experience of GBStudio now and we'll see not to repeat the same mistakes in the future XD
Once the jam rating is over, we'll try and fix everything and update the game ;)

Cool game

Regarding the music, I’d suggest using shorter notes for the melody; the raw sawtooth wave is harsh on the ears. You could also add some vibrato to make it less hursh.

Also, for some reason, the controls didn't match the game's description at all (I spent about 10 minutes trying to figure out the inputs—it turned out to be Left Alt, Left Ctrl, and the arrow keys).

Otherwise, the game is actually quite interesting. Great job!

Thank you so much for the feedback! Yeah, after the rating period is over we'll go over everything and fix everything we can.

Thanks for the feedback, I am the composer for this game and was my first ever game jam experience for me, and first time using GBStudio music maker so I had to learn everything about it by myself, I plan to learn for the future.

The art and soundtrack on this is peak, I know you guys had problems submitting it but going through all the cutscenes after dying was pretty annoying.  very nice job

Thank you for the feedback! Yeah, we are planning on fixing the retry button when you die so that you do not have to sit through the intro a thousand times lol
