Hi all

This would suit someone that's looking to build up a portfolio and get some credit on an upcoming Steam game. I am self-publishing a Lemmings-style A-to-B game hopefully in February 2027.

About the game:

  • Save a herd of lost sheep from a treacherous mountain using a variety of helpful (but sometimes risky!) tools in this quirky 2D puzzle-platformer adventure. Devise unique strategies to solve dozens of levels across multiple chapters, and get the flock back to the farm, safe and sound.
  • This game started life as a Game Jam entry and finished 7th from a total of 1,000 entries.
  • The commercial release will have about 45 levels, of which 18 have been created so far. Most of the focus has been on getting all of the systems developed, as well as the custom sounds made just for this game implemented and running.
  • Demo: https://miniaturegiants.itch.io/where-the-flock
  • Note: This demo is somewhat outdated and has been drastically updated
  • This will get you a feel for what the game is about. If/When you join the team you'll get access to the latest build.
  • Steam Link: https://store.steampowered.com/app/3851010/Where_The_Flock/
  • The game currently has 264 Wishlists, which is not huge, but probably representative of the niche. Will put significant effort into promotion in December/Jan this year pending finalisation of the base game.

Why am I looking for a Pixel Artist:

  • So far I have done all the art myself (every pixel) and for someone who is not an artist this has been crazy time consuming for an end result that I know could use improvement.
  • I have created 2 of the 3 'biomes' (Mountain, Caves) for the game and there is a 3rd biome that needs to be created (LumberMill). This would involve creating about 5 or 6 32x32 tiles. I'm also looking for 'background' type art like a Wooden cabin, and a hazard like a saw (non animated - just the sprite - will animate in the engine most likely)
  • I welcome anyone that wants  to contribute to the current biomes and make them better in any way they see as artistically suitable. This could be refinement, scenery, props etc etc.
  • Bonus: Any desire or experience making improved Steam Capsule are would be a bonus.

About You:

  • You dont need much experience but you need to be better than me at this (not difficult I dont think)
  • The game is fairly bright, whimsical, somewhat cute, and occasionally funny so that 'style' should appeal to you.
  • If interested, please dont attempt to roll up with AI produced art. I already had this epic fail when I tried to hire someone on Fiverr.

What I can offer:

  • Formal Credit in the game which will be accessible from the main screen
  • A complimentary copy of the game at launch

Sound like a project you might enjoy working on? I would love to hear from you!

like, this is the kind of thing you'd need to drastically improve with your skills. Any takers?

Hello! I am very interested in helping out if you would like! I wouldn't necessarily consider myself a pixel artist, but I have had a lot more experience in other styles of 2D (and 3D) art! But I am very open to learning more and trying my best! My account is very new, so I don't have much to reference, but my Discord is @hopefaith_one if you would like to contact me! :)

Thanks for reaching out :) I have pinged you on Discord

Hey, I might be able to help you with this one. Feel free to reach out in discord _scr_
